Mountain Meadows Massacre took place 144 years before September 11, 2001

September 11, 1857 is the day the Mountain Meadows Massacre commenced in southern Utah. Approximately 120 Gentile men, women, and children in a wagon train from Arkansas were murdered by a band of Mormons set on holy vengeance.

Interesting parallels in how religious fundamentalism can give rise to acts of bloody justice. Lessons for today as we contemplate modern avengers – having been on the other side of the deed.
