bullet 10a. Words Around "Hinckley" in the New Testament Lexicon

Three days ago (3/21/97), in the process of recording the above discoveries surrounding the word "Hinckley" () in Hebrew, I became curious what words might surround the Greek pronunciation of "Hinckley."

I opened Strong's Greek Dictionary of the New Testament at the back of his Concordance to the page that happened to have the "hi.." prefix pronunciation. This was fortuitous, for I had wondered how to get the "H" sound, for there is none listed in the alphabet itself.

It turns out that his name comes at a place in which it is juxtaposed perfectly with the antithesis of the anti-Christ. The words just before and after its insertion point are:

2444 hinati: for what reason?, i.e. why?: -- wherefore?

---> Hinckley

2445 Ioppe: Joppe, a place in Palestine: -- Joppa.

At first, this does not appear significant. However, I then noted that several months prior (5/23/96), when I had looked up the word Jesus (#2424) and noticed that the words before and after were significantly applicable to the Lord ministry in Jerusalem, I took a marker and drew a line down the margin. I began with word #2405 and ended with word #2444.

Wondering if Zodhiates might give me any insight as to the pertinence of "Joppa" (#2445), opened to his Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament. I then recognized that this page (777) had been as far back as I had turned when doing a study last month (2/16/97) that stretched from p. 777 to p. 791. The basis of that study was a discovery of what appeared to be a whole section of words that pertained to the latter-day Messianic ministry. It began with my opening the book to p. 790 (on my way to flip to a particular word) and noticing some definitions that caught my attention. On the two opened pages are seven words in a row, except one, that are names of ancestors of Jesus. In the midst of these is word #2500, which I noted as significant, for I have long noticed that the various forms of the number twenty-five are very often connected to the latter-day David (antithesis of the anti-Christ). I then proceeded to flip backwards through the book, noting with interest the various words and their definitions as they tied into the theme. It wasn't until I got to the seemingly unrelated word, "Joppa," (above) that I halted, as if coming to a dead end of this discovery adventure. If all these words from #2445 through #2503 had been on one page, I would have marked a continuous line through the margin to indicate their relatedness.

Hence, it turned out that the insertion point for the word Hinckley, comes exactly between two extensive sets of words discovered independently, nine months apart. The first set pertains to the first coming of Christ and the second set pertains to the latter-day Messianic advent.

In this light, Zodhiates' discussion of "Joppa" becomes all the more profound. He reminds us that "it was here that Peter..., on the roof of Simon the Tanner's house, received the famous vision which taught him that the gospel was intended for Jew and Gentile alike." The first coming of Christ was to the Jews, who rejected him; so the gospel was taken to the Gentiles. His latter-day advent will be among the Gentiles, who will likewise reject him, lead by the anti-Christ. The gospel will then return to Israel in power. The stone which the builders rejected (Jews first, Gentiles last), will finally become the headstone of their corner (the Gentiles first, and Jews last). This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.(41)

2444 hinati: for what reason?, i.e. why?: -- wherefore?

Thus marked the end of the word series around the word, Jesus. Thus comes the insertion point of "Hinckley," according to the Greek spelling.

Notice that the following verses, cited by Zodhiates under 2444, "why?," are applicable to the subject at hand.

Why?

"Why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience?" (1 Cor. 10:29.)(42)

"Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?" (Matt. 9:4.)(43)

"Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?" (Acts 4:25.)(44)

"Cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?" (Luke 13:7.)(45)

"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matt. 27:46.)(46)

"For [Moses] supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not. And the next day he showed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another? But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?" (Acts 7:25-27.)(47)

The word right after 2445, Joppe, is 2446: Jordan. Not only are the Jews at the time of Christ' ministry among them on a parallel with the Mormons and the latter-day advent, but even the geography of the regions is parallel and chiastic in nature. Both have the famous feature of having a "dead" body of water near their capitol/headquarters. Above both salt-water basins is a fresh-water lake of considerable size, with a metropolis of life on its banks. Between them flows a river called Jordan. And surrounding them are majestic mountains. The main difference, appropriately, is that North is South and South is North.  The first shall be last, and the last shall be first.
