II Thes. 2 = Isaiah 66 Parallel |
5. II Thessalonians 2 = Isaiah 66 Parallel: "Strong Delusion"
The clue I followed to obtain the next evidence for the validity of this
was the tight correlation of wording I noticed between 2nd Thes. ii and Isaiah
66. I have long known that the wording of scripture is highly significant. The fact that
these two chapters are the only places in the entire standard works that use the word,
"delusion," draws a very tight connection between the contexts of the two
prophecies. My question was, therefore, How extensive are the parallels between these
two chapters? I was guessing that two or three verses might overlap. What I did not
suppose was that then entire chapter of 2nd Thessalonians would parallel the
first half of Isaiah 66. I finished polishing off this discovery on April 6th.
You will notice as you look through these column comparisons, that the verses follow
sequentially in Isaiah 66 in the left-hand column. However, the verses seem to come
haphazardly from 2nd Thessalonians in the right hand column. However, it turns
out that what happens is the sequence of verses from 2nd Thes. ii follows the
sequence of the chiasm.(14)
Therefore, not only does Isaiah 66 provide a second, synergistic witness to 2nd
Thes. ii through this juxtaposition, but this unique pattern of verse sequences serves to
endorse the chiasm of 2nd Thes. ii. Another thing that is interesting to note
is that there are 33 correlation sets. With two columns, that makes 66 elements --
the same number as the Isaiah chapter to which the parallel is made.

Endnotes
14. 14 Verses one and two cover A-1-3,
B, C-1-5, and D(1) and D(2), then come verses
10 through 14, which pick up with D(3)' and D(4)' then
goes back to C-1-5' to B' to A-1-3'.
Next are verses three and four, which begin with D(3-5) and then cover E-1-5
in the chiasm, followed by verses eight and nine, which are E-1-5'
followed by D(1,2,5,4)'. Next is verse six (F-1,2), then
five (omission), then six again, which both emphasizes the
"omission" in the chiasms as well as creating repetition of "six,"
making 66, which is the chapter in Isaiah to which this parallel is being made. Then, the
parallel jumps to the end of the chapter (vs. 15-17), where the chiasm did not cover.
Finally, the parallel sequence concludes by taking in the focal point of the chiasm, which
is verse seven.
