Main Temple Door Faces
East
Yesterday I had a thought hit me.
The LDS temples are built so that the main entrance faces East, and it is
not used, but is reserved for the coming of Christ, as the scriptures say he
appears from the East like the rising sun. It's kind of like the Jewish
Passover in which they leave a seat empty for Elijah.
Anyway, I got to thinking about how our bodies are the temple of God. Then
in thinking about what this East symbolizes on that level, it wasn't hard to
realize it could have to do with the role that Eastern wisdom will play in the
latter-days in helping us come into the presence of God.
