Dear Editor,
You know that you are going to receive a wide divergence of opinion
when you solicit people's views regarding whether or not people fear the
"former" Soviet Union's nuclear weapons and what the U.S.'s policy should be
toward the newly formed Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Most of these will
likely reflect the sentiment which the changes were designed to arouse, namely that:
"What we used to consider the fearful, evil empire is no more. It's gone. Kaput. All
that is left are fledgling countries trying to become free like the West. They cannot do
us any harm. Let's send all the aid we can to help them as they try to make this difficult
transition."
People swallow this rubbish because they want to believe it; and that
is precisely why such propaganda is so effctive. Amos the prophet warned, "All the
sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake..
us." (9:10.)
The facts are that the former Soviet Union's nuclear weapons are now in the hands of
the CIS, and the vast majority of former leaders of the former Soviet Union are the
current leaders of the CIS. The economic changes that are taking place are essentially the
same (only speeded up) as those proposed in Gorbachev's peresiroika -- which, he
continually declared does not mean an abandonment of World Socialism but a leap forward in
its development.
Gorbachev is called the "conscience" of the new commonwealth.
So what has really changed besides the name of the country? Is it possible that we are
being misled?
As the former NATO Commander-in-Chief, General Sir Walter Walker said,
"...I know for certain that we are now in a period of the greatest strategic
deception, perhaps in all histry. . ." Our National Security Advisor, Robert Gates,
shares this concern. Is it possible that significant prophecies are being fulfilled before
our very eyes?
Even though the "black briefcase" with its ominous
"button" has changed hands from Gorbachev to Yeltsin, the first strike
capability behind that button has not changed, but only continues to increase as it did
before. The nillitary structure remains virtually unchanged. A documented list of their
unalabated buildup could be extended at length. Forr example, at three billion dollars a
copy (possible partly because of U.S. and other Western grants), they continue to produce
nuclear submarines at full speed, launching one every six weeks. These have the capability
of delivering nuclear missiles from just a few hundred kilometers off our coasts. The
SS-20 missiles with a they claim to be getting rid of, are now showing up in Cuba. Having
a 3,000-mile range, these missiles can reach any U.S. city.
Meanwhile, sick with a contagious, blinding euphoria, the West disarms,
thus widening further the window of' vulnerability while saying that the cold war is over.
For anyone who understands Satan and those who promote his philosophies here on the earth,
they know that for Satan the cold war is not over until God's saints are all cold -- that
is dead. The only genuine disarmament they would consider is to send their missiles over
here all at once.
Fortunately, we know that the outcome of the coming calamities will not
be a victory on Satan's side, but on the side of Christ. At a crucial moment, the Lord
will intervene on behalf of those who have humbled themselves before Him and petition him
for deliverance. Ironically, the chastening destructions that will have come will have
been considered to be the loving blow of His angry hand upon a people gorged with iniquity
-- a purifying radiation treatment (literally) on a nation seething with the cancer of
wickedness in high places.
So in answer to the question posed, "Do you still fear the nuclear weapons of the
former Soviet Union?" we should remember the axiom that those who are prepared should
not fear, for the Lord is in control; and the righteous who trust in him will be preserved
and the wicked will be destroyed. Great blessings will follow -- more than we can fathom
at this time If we hearken to the Spirit of God, we will not be deceived in this day of
great delusion being unleashed by Satan, who says, "I anm no devil, for there is
none." (2 Ne. 28:22.) It is not man nor his devices that we should fear, but God, who
is just, who has decreed in his wrath that He will sweep the iniquitous inhabitants from
off this land if they should turn from Jesus Christ who is the God of this land.
