For years, the warning has been going forth that men bent on world domination have been infiltrating the structure of society, especially the governments of the world. This paradigm has been given the name, the "Conspiracy theory." Is this a theory or is it a fact?

Anyone who considers it a theory has to close their eyes tightly to the truth, for evidence of this fact is legion.

A good example of this came in the Deseret News' front page feature of Mikhail Gorbachev's first syndicated monthly column on February 25, 1992. In this article, Gorbachev bluntly confirmed things which those who have been warning of this conspiracy have been saying for so long.

First, he said: "It should also be noted that representatives of socialist parties and members of the Socialist International are in the governments of countries where the market dominates the economy." Isn't this precisely what patriotic Americans have been trying alert people to -- this usurpation and infiltration of our Constitutional republic with Socialists and Socialism?

Second, he said: "The idea of socialism lives on, and it is my feeling that the quest...is ongoing.... What I find most striking today is that this quest affects not only our country...but the entire world including the capitalist countries." I couldn't have said it better myself! What do we have to say for ourselves in America...or in Utah?

Third, he said that this quest is "the desire to experiment and to find a new form for putting the socialist idea into practice;" which he obviously sees as being compatible with "democracy" and "human rights." Again, haven't the American patriots been warning that democracy does not mean freedom -- that democracy and socialism are completely compatible? Just because a people elect a dictator -- not to mention all the factors that can manipulate the outcome of "free" elections, such as controlling the media -- does not make them a free people.

Fourth, he said: "The truth of the matter is that today all of us, East and West, are moving toward a new type of civilization, whether we realize it or not.... Our old stereotypes have now lost their meaning and should be radically re-examined." Whose values are we adopting? Which direction are we headed? What is this new world order that the world is chasing after?

The title of Gorbachev's piece said it all: "Socialism Lives on." World Socialism is what the communist movement has been after from the start.

If Gorbachev were considered a bad guy, then I wouldn't worry. But what in the world do we think we are doing calling this man the "Man of the Decade" and giving him the Nobel Peace prize? Do we really want his plan to succeed?

I say, Give me liberty or give me death; and I will fight this new world order to the death if necessary.
