is a monster of such frightful mien,
As to be hated is but to be seen.
Yet seen too oft, familiar with his face,
First we endure, then pity, then embrace.
Ian Punnett is a strong advocate of the endure/pity stage.
For the mainstream audience, I suppose he is a breath of fresh air when what most of
what they see is in the "embrace" stage.
As for me, I abstain from television almost completely, so for me Ian Punnett is on
occasion quite repulsive, though I still enjoy listening to his show for the most
part when I am out doing chores or driving or something.
