Dietary Crime in Utah Hospital
========================
DIETARY CRIME IN UTAH HOSPITAL
Dear Editor,
You know there is this dialogue that goes on that pits natural healing methods such as
herbs and responsible prevention on one side versus allopathic intervention on the other
side, the latter usually being synonymous with hospital care.
You and I know that there is a time and a place for both, and that the feud should not
be going on between them. Ideally they should work together, not against one another.
What I am about to report does not move us in that direction, but rather portrays a
classic illustration of the dichotomy.
I personally know someone who was just released from the Intensive Care Unit of a major
hospital in Salt Lake City, having blood clots in his legs and having had a heart attack
recently.
Do you know what they fed him for breakfast a day after he was released from ICU?
Bacon and eggs, a milk shake and a doughnut. He had another milk shake for lunch.
Come on! A four-year-old could have made a better-health choice.
They should not be serving a meal like that to ANYONE, let alone someone trying to heal
in a hospital!
It's hard not to feel like the medical establishment is only looking for money when they
do something like that. It's like the mechanic who breaks one thing on the car while
fixing another, so as to get more business while he's at it.
There are not too many people you can fool nowadays with a breakfast like that.
In an enlightened society such as we supposedly have today, this is outright criminal;
not just unethical.
Let's clean it up folks! or do we need to start naming names? Heads ought to roll on
this one.
My wife and I are going to be taking care of this person when he is released from the
hospital, and we want to get him out of there as fast as we can, not just because it is
expensive -- which it certain is (hopefully covered by insurance) -- but because it is
dangerous!
Sincerely,
Sterling D. Allan

Epilogue: I read this editorial to the head nurse at the hospital I mention above. She
agrees with me and gave me the email addresses of the head administrator as well as the
administrator in charge of the dietitians. I commented to her that this is not just
reason for someone's hand to be slapped, but that the person directly responsible ought
to be fired over this one -- and whatever school they went to, that school ought to be
fired as well. |
