RE Another Dream
Dear President Clinton,
Greetings. This is now the second letter I am
writing you in a little more than a week. When I mentioned to a couple of people that I
had written a letter to you, they wondered why I had wasted my time: "Surely you
don't think he would read your letter with the barrage of mail he receives." As I
said in my last letter, I will leave it in the hands of the good Lord. If he wants you to
read this, then he can make a way.
As I mentioned to you in my last letter, I was
deeply affected by a dream I had about you in which you were with my family on a vacation
and taking very kind interest in what we had to say. Ever since then I have found that
even though I disagree with you in terms of policies, I consider you as a brother. You
have been on my mind and in my prayers. I have been praying that you might come to a
realization that the angels of God (which surely include righteous presidents of the
United States such as Thomas Jefferson or George Washington) seek to work with you to do a
great work -- one to which you were foreordained before being born to this world -- and
will do so to the extent that you humble yourself before the Lord. Depending on your
agency, either their hands are tied or they will be able to inspire and direct the work
you do. God's ministrants are much closer at hand than most people will ever realize --
until they die and graduate from this temporal existence, at which time they will be
ushered into that world unseen by our veiled eyes. On the other hand, the forces of
darkness are also hard at work. I have felt impressed to pray on your behalf that you
would be shielded from them. God's power is greater, and will prevail -- depending, again,
on our agency.
Anyway, this focusing on your behalf has become
somewhat of an obsession with me since that dream I had, and from last Thursday evening to
Saturday afternoon, I fasted for the second time specifically on your behalf. Saturday
morning I was given two more dreams about you. In one of them, you were hurriedly walking
somewhere in Washington D.C. and I was laboring to keep up. Our conversation was brief,
and the dream ended there.
The other dream was even shorter -- more a
snapshot image than an event linked to the flow of time -- and it seems that it was
repeated at least once, if not twice. Even now, a few days later, the image is imbedded in
my mind. You and Boris Yeltsin were featured together on a letter-proportioned, huge
billboard-like advertisement. The snapshot had captured you in a mode of frivolity; and
the advertisement (ostensibly for beer, but the political overtones were clearly the chief
impetus) was being promoted both in the Soviet Union but also to a lesser extent in
America. Boris had been behind both the staging of the photograph mood as well as the
promotion of the advertisement. The feeling I got when I saw it was as if he was saying
under his breath, "Got ya' where I want ya'."
In scriptural prophecy wine represents the lies
of the devil, and drinking that wine represents believing those lies. (See Isaiah 28:2,7;
29:9,10; 2 Nephi 28:21-25.) The lies are intoxicating and one who is overcome of wine does
not recognize that he is so.
This afternoon after a jog, doing my push-ups,
I was listening to the New Testament on tape and was struck by the following passage.
"No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will
first bind the strong man; and then will he spoil his house." (Mark 3:27.) Though
this is one of those verses teeming with innuendo and rich in application to many
situations, it has nevertheless been somewhat of a riddle to me. I decided to make it the
verse I memorize today, and as I was doing so before heading for bed, I was struck by its
possible application to the dream I just described. Who are the "strong men" in
the house of America? Certainly as her President, you qualify as such. I would also say
that the churches of America play that role, and when it comes to the lie that communism
is dead, they are as drunken as anyone else. On a larger scope, the United States plays
that role for the world, with her manifest destiny having traditionally been the
mainstay to oppose the establishment of world socialism. In some respects, you as the
President of this great nation of destiny at this juncture are in a position of great
influence for moving it one way or the other. Certainly the angels of heaven have an
interest in guiding your steps if you will let them. God governs the affairs of this
nation, and ultimately His kingdom will be established -- which the Founders commenced and
are actively participating in achieving, notwithstanding the seeming disrepair at present.
May the Lord's blessings be upon you and this
nation as we choose to return to his ways.
| Sincerely, your brother, Sterling

P.S. Ironically, this evening I watched Senator Moynihan's
interview on the MacNiel/Lehrer News Hour regarding the current momentum to either
drastically revamp or eliminate altogether the C.I.A., "Now that the cold war is
over." Bind the strong man of the house and then what? |
