Subject: Balancing Christian and New Age Extremes
(keyster's, this is a post I wrote directed to the list I have been moderating called
"David's Outcasts" in the spirit of David who was cast out by Saul and yet
remained faithful to the hope of Israel)
Mark Thomase laments what he perceives to be a shift in this list as of late in the New
Age direction. He didn't say so explicitly, but I'm guessing he meant to direct his
comment to me in particular.
Please let me explain my stance and why it might be easy to perceive that I have
shifted in that direction when in truth I am seeking but to become more closely balanced
between the left-brain analytical where I have been most talented and the right-brain
intuitive where I could use some improvement.
The error of the New Age, generally speaking, is that in their extreme they all but put
away the analytical mind, the thinking mind, and seek to be controlled completely by
things spiritual. Because the mind is set on the shelf, their ability to discern is
hampered and they end up getting information from beings from both sides, often from the
dark side. Hence they have no problem with channeling, doing seances, using oui-ja
boards, etc.
I would argue that the religious right in its extreme errs on the other extreme.
They get so analytical that they have no room for things spiritual. They put
aside their personal right to revelation and place their trust instead in the writings of
the great prophets, past and supposedly present.
I believe that the proper relationship between left-brain and right-brain, like male
and female, is a synergistic marriage.
I see J J Dewey as being more
talented in this regard than any other person I have ever met or known about. It so
happens that his audience tends to be predominantly New Age, but that is because the New
Age is so open and he speaks their language to a significant extent. He also speaks
to the religious right, but they are far less apt to pay attention because of their
analytic tendencies. Anything that tends to look different must be wrong.
Their ability to sense things intuitively is severely hampered.
As I have participated on the "Keys of Knowledge" list, I have seen first
hand how J J takes a controversial and unpopular stance among the New Agers when it comes
to some of their favorite forms of getting information (e.g. channeling in which they give
over their agency to another possessing entity of whatever source). There are
several New Agers on that lists whose sole purpose is to expose him as being
a deceiver.
The bottom line here is that each of us has a birthright responsibility to discern
truth and error ultimately for ourselves. By following the highest light we have
been given we will be given more. Otherwise we are left to drift until we decide to
move forward. "Decision" or "agency" really is what we are all
about in our most fundamental form as intelligences.
I have passed on a lot of stuff to you all lately from that list that is a mixture of
truth and error.
It looks though, that instead of taking the truths and ignoring the error, you have
supposed that I must agree 100% with what I passed on or else I would not have passed it
on. That is not the case. Nor have I felt the need to specify what I agree
with and what I don't. My role is not to be a baby sitter. You are not babies.
I must admit that when I saw that in order to be on J J's discussion list (set up by
another person) I had to become a member of a website that was way new age, I balked for
about a week. But then I felt that I needed to be on this list so I joined
anyway. I am not the least bit sorry for having done so.
Yes, there are a bunch of New Agers/Democrats (amazing how these go so hand in
hand) -- predominantly so -- on that list, but there are also some amazing teachers,
especially J J. They have welcomed me with open arms for what I am bringing to that
list.
So once again, I would invite you to very seriously consider the writings of J J Dewey
as being designed to bridge the Western Religiosity and the Eastern Mysticism into a
unified whole that brings the left and right-brain elements of analytical truth and
intuition into a wonderfully balanced marriage.
Might I suggest that the reasons some of you are getting the jitters over this are
analogous to the reasons that a person gets the jitters before getting married? This
is a huge step, a very stretching step, a scary step, but a very worth while, ennobling,
and wonderful step.
I would dare say it is analogous to conversion from say Protestantism to Mormonism, or
from Mormonism to Outcastism. This is the next step. I would strongly
recommend it to all of you who are prepared to take it.
You have noticed that David's Outcasts list has been dwindling lately. I see that
as a good thing. I think it is time to move on -- forward for those who are
prepared, backward for those who are not.
I'm not saying that I'm discontinuing the list. I'm just saying it is time for a
change -- at least for me it is.
My primary interest at present so far as a discussion group is the "Keys of
Knowledge" list. It is far more mind and spirit expanding than even what we
have had at David's Outcasts.
If you are interested in trying it out, a link to the archives as well as instructions
of how to join may be found toward the end of the following page
www.greaterthings.com/Bookstore/Spirituality/Immortal.htm
And again, I would most strongly urge you all to read and ponder "The Immortal" by J J Dewey. www.freeread.com or call 1-800-390-5687.
Sincerely,
Sterling D. Allan
p.s. Here I've said this and I've not even finished reading all of Book II yet.
But what I've read so far is wonderful, and those who I respect who have read the whole
thing, have not indicated that there is any reason not to be equally delighted with the
remainder of the book. And I anxiously await Book III.
And this just now in from JJ this morning:
<quote>
It has been said that there are those who seek to expose me as a fraud. This will be
difficult to do.
Why?
Because I make no claims - even my book is published as fiction.
If I were to make any claim it is this. It is possible to know the truth,
especially principles that reveal truth and this is through reflecting the material off
your own soul. You must not trust me or anyone else until you do this and prove to
yourself that a teacher or teaching is leading you the right direction.
I'm glad to see that Sterling is making himself at home here. His last posting surely took a lot of thought to create
and his use of the law of correspondences concerning the way to peace was excellent.
I expect great things from the author of "Greater Things."
