Subject: virtual gathering and literal gathering; communication by the
Spirit
Yesterday I had an experience similar to JJ's.
The power was out for several hours here, sometimes for long spells, sometimes for
little spurts.
Being so close to Y2K, it caused me to reflect on how electricity and computer
dependent we are in our culture. I would dare say that 95% or more of my present
activity is electricity-dependent, and 75% is computer dependent.
One big thing that hit me during the outage was how much I would miss my Internet
friends if this was prolonged because of a major Y2K glitch or some king of social
disruption. This virtual community we have created on the various e-mail groups
would virtually cease to exist.
Of all the people I correspond with via e-mail, I probably have only about 2-3% of
their physical addresses on hard copy records. And most of them are so far away
geographically that I wouldn't be able to see them anyway if things fell apart in our
social structure as they are predicted to do at some point.
Prophecy also foretells of pockets of saints gathering for mutual support and defense
during the tribulations that are to come. I wonder if there will be any overlap of
membership in those groups with membership of these virtual communities we are creating
via the Internet. Perhaps this uprooting of relationships will be part of the
struggle and part of the birthing of Zion, as more than ever we will need to depend upon
the Lord and be able to stand on our own with him/her.
Nevertheless, I can't help but hope in my heart that some of my dearest friends from
the Internet will somehow end up together in the same survival camp so we can make the
trek together to the New Jerusalem when it comes time to build that city after we have
overcome the beast on a temporal and spiritual level.
For those who live in the cities and are feeling an urge to move out to the suburbs,
Sanpete valley is a wonderful place here in Central Utah. There is a strong
prophetic destiny for this place. Nevertheless, it is not the only place.
Perhaps you are foreordained to be among a different group of survivors.
But another thought hits me. Though we might become physically removed from one
another and unable to communicate by conventional means, maybe we can become developed
enough in the oneness principle that we can communicate by spiritual means. We
communicate with God through spiritual means, why not with one another? Some people
already know how to do this and are well developed in the gift. I've experienced it
on a very limited basis, but would love to have the gift developed.
Anyway, just some forward nostalgic thoughts on the eve of Y2K and other events that
will eventually bring at least a temporary end to society as we know it today -- all for
the sake of refining us and preparing us for a better world to come.
Sincerely
Sterling D. Allan
