Many Parallels in John's Revelation

I've been following along as JJ Dewey has recently been expounding on an interpretation of the Book of Revelation and have posted an index of his installments thus far, with copies of each post at:
http://www.jjwritings.com/books/book_of_revelation/

I do not wish to take away from his expositions, as they are exceptional.

However, I would like to remind everyone that there is no such thing as "the one and only true interpretation." JJ actually made this point early on in the series.

All things have an infinite number of analogies, comparisons, lessons, probable futures. It is up to the free will within each of us to run things by our soul and learn those lessons that are most suitable to our particular point of progress as well as of our expansion of knowledge about how we personally can improve the world and universe around us.

To illustrate this principle, most of you are aware that many years ago I wrote a book called "The Vision of All: Our Past, Present and Future as Foretold in Book of Mormon History."

That book has two parts: Temporal Parallels, and Spiritual Parallels.

In Part I, I compare the history/prophecy of the House of Israel from beginning to end to the history of the Lehites in the Book of Mormon. There is a very strong correspondence, as you can see in the outline page.

In Part II, I compare the Lehite timeline to the progression of an individual through life. Again, there is a strong correlation.

Thus we see, that for the Book of Mormon history as a prophetic metaphor, there are at least two major parallels.

With this in mind, I would suggest to you that what JJ is doing right now in expounding on the interpretation of the Book of Revelation, is in the same genre as "Part II" of my book. He is expounding the spiritual/individual parallels of what is usually seen as a purely temporal prophecy.

It is not one or the other. It is both, and much more, though these two levels of application are the two major ones.

One could probably draw analogies to business or government or science or education, etc. from the Book of Revelation as well.

In the appendix of my book "The Vision of All," you will see that I actually draw additional parallels to illustrate that point.

I hope that my reminding you of this will help you obtain a more whole understanding of all creation and to keep your mind open to the infinite number of possibilities of creation that are within the scope of each one of us.

The bottom line is our choice. What are we going to make of ourselves? What are we going to make of the world of which we are a part?

Sincerely,

Sterling D. Allan

Schopenhauer
All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
