Probably just a coincidence, but Drudge mentioned in today's email that Al
Gore, candidate for the US Presidency, grew up in Carthage, TN.

Those are the shocking words of Mattie Lucy Payne, 89, housekeeper and
nanny to the Gores of Tenneessee.
For more than 30 years, Payne cleaned house and cooked for the Gores on
their 250-acre farm in Carthage. It was on this farm where Payne helped raise
Al Gore Jr.

Carthage brings to mind ancient Carthage near Tunis in North Africa. It was
destroyed by the Romans in a dreadful bloody battle in 146 BC. From this war
came the phrase -- Carthaginian Peace -- so named because the blood and horror
of that war did not end until the enemies of Rome accepted unconditional
surrender under drastically severe terms.
Some 550 years later, the Roman Emperor held an ecumenical Council at
Carthage in 396 AD among the fighting factions of Christianity.
Representatives from among all the major competing priesthoods attended.
Priesthoods?
Yes, Priesthoods.
The purpose of the Council was to reach consensus on the official
government approved Bible, and then to close the Canon. In essence, at
Carthage the Emperor and the Pope combined to decree, "A Bible, a Bible,
we now have a government approved Bible for the Universal Religion of Rome --
and there will be no more Bible, no more words of the prophets or epistles of
the apostles. The canon is closed, just as the BoM prophets describe.
Choosing ancient Carthage for this council among all priesthoods was no
accident of history, The message of the Emperor and the Pope was clear.
Unconditional surrender under the most severe terms will be inflicted on any
who dare to question the Universal Religion of Rome and its government
approved Bible.
Blood and horror awaited anyone who dared to molest the leader of the
priesthoods who gathered for the Council of Carthage.
Gore from Carthage was the implied threat and real horror imposed on anyone
who refused to bow down and worship -- the universal religion of Rome -- the
church that had a little something for everyone they conquered. .
Maybe it's just a coincidence of words.
Or are these key words that unlock hidden realities.
The course of the Lord is one eternal round, the same today as yesterday
and forever -- for those who dare to open the closed canon of Scripture.
Carthage -- the very name causes one to think carefully before facing the
blood and horror, indeed, the gore associated with this dreadful place of
infamy. Knowing the death threats and two party conspiracy among those who
closed the canon at Carthage 1600 years ago, gives a new meaning to why the
sun will refuse to shine when the moon, the ruler of the darkness, turns to
blood and horror (e.g., gore).
Perhaps this also explains why the wise virgins refuse to share any of
their light with foolish virgins -- at the moment of high anticipation -- when
they are meeting secretly with the Bridegroom -- and the door is closed.
Perhaps it also explains why the Lord told Joseph he would return like a
thief, for the secret exchange of keys at Adam-ondi-Ahman -- or the lone and
dreary world where we now live. That exchange, wrote JFS and BRMcC, could well
be called the best kept secret in the church. It will be unknown to the world,
and unknown to the general membership of the Church. Only those who are
invited to receive the exchange of key information will even know they have
received it.
We watched the Gore interview of MTV last night. What a charmer -- just
like BYU Prof Hugh Nibley said he envisioned Lucifer -- a real establishment
man, well groomed and highly articulate. He talked so persuasively about his
plan to use the Constitution to require all states to recognize gay and
lesbian partnerships as a "civic marriage" entitled to the same
rights and privileges of heterosexual unions, I almost wanted to believe him.
Then I thought about the prophet's Proclamation to the World and his
warning about what will happen to those persons, states and nations who fight
against the holy order of matrimony, between a man and a woman, established by
our Eternal Father so long ago in the Garden that once was Eden.
I thought about the Proclamation the Lord told Joseph to issue to the Kings
of the earth while the Nauvoo Temple was being built -- 42 months before
Joseph and Hyrum sealed their testimony with their blood. (See Rev 11 which
describes two prophets who are martyred after testifying for 42 months, 1260
days). The Proclamation from Nauvoo is described in D&C 124 -- it was
issued a few months after Joseph and Hyrum were martyred -- when the Nauvoo
Temple was finished.
The prophet GBH is rebuilding the Nauvoo Temple. Coincidence -- or is it a
sign in heaven seen by those with eyes to see? Is the course of the Lord one
eternal round? While the Nauvoo Temple is being built this time -- is the
prophet GBH doing what Joseph did in Nauvoo -- just before being killed at
Carthage? Is he meeting privately with wise virgins -- behind closed doors?
Is the secret exchange of keys now taking place?

The battle lines are being drawn. As the prophet ETB so often said, the
line will become clearer and more obvious until we are each obligated to
choose whether we will stand on holy ground, in defending the Kingdom of God
upon the earth, or fight against the Lamb of God and his Twelve Apostles.
Gore from Carthage -- or Jesus from New Jerusalem. Will it really be such a
simple choice? If so, how close are we to our day of choosing? Will we be
ready to stand with the Lamb on Mount Zion when he takes his stand?
ETB often quoted the motto of John Taylor, third prophet of the Church, who
lived as a fugitive from federal arrest warrants most of his prophetic hour.
John Taylor, who was wounded four times at Carthage Jail when Joseph and Hyrum
were martyred by the very militia members who were to defend them. John Taylor
who lived on the Mormon Underground all of his prophetic hour from 1880 to
1887 -- while the US Congress constantly enacted laws against the Mormon,
taking away their right to vote, to hold public office and to serve on juries
-- disencorporating the Church, confiscating all of the church properties,
including temples, chapels, seminaries and welfare farms.
Three years after John Taylor died on the Mormon Underground, Wilford
Woodruff said, I see this must be. I will surrender to avoid blood and horror.
I will partake of party politics -- and tell the saints they are free to
choose for themselves. The one party theocracy of Deseret was then dismantled
-- along with the United Order -- and the saints partook of party politics
while the Gadiantons took over sole management of the government by sharing
the spoils with the more wicked part of the Nephites, just as the Book of
Mormon foretells.
Today, we are a conquered kingdom just as Rev 13 and Daniel 7 describe. We
are marked like slaves with the mark of the beast -- which mark is the number
of our name assigned to us by the beast when we were born. We cannot buy or
sell unless we show our mark of loyalty to Lucifer -- the number of our name
-- given to us by the beast with seven heads (of state).
We are also preparing for the day of our redemption -- when we overcome the
temptations of Phila Delphia that shall come upon the whole world; when we are
given the new name of the Lord in the new Jerusalem temple, and dressed in
white robes, so we can gain victory over the beast that marked us with a
number.
Someday, we will be asked to choose between the number of the beast -- that
murdered the two prophets (Rev 11) -- and the new name of the Lord, that no
one else knows except the one who receives it. If you have received the new
name that no one else knows -- perhaps you know the two prophets who were
murdered and are partaking of the hidden manna promised in Rev 2:17.
Someday, at the Second Coming of our Savior, the first prophets of the
eternal family from Adam and Abel, to Seth and Enoch will return to another
Jerusalem, patterned after old Jerusalem, where we used to live -- to another
Sea of Salt into which another River Jordan flows. The will be led by the
resurrected Lamb of God, and with him will be the righteous prophets from
Joseph to Gordon.
They will stand with the Lamb on Mount Zion -- ready to take as their motto
"The Kingdom of God or Nothing," just as John Taylor did. When that
day of choosing comes, said Elder BRMcC, the saints will face the worst
persecution ever. "Our worst persecution is not behind us," said
BRMcC in 1980. "That, too, lies ahead. The doors of Carthage shall again
enclose the innocent. There will yet be more martyrs. We shall yet weep more
tears for Zion than we have ever known."
Yes, the gore of Carthage is still ahead -- worse than ever before. If
those days were not cut short, none of the elect would be spared.
