TEXT:
Considering the far-reaching scope of the September 11 terrorist attack,
prophecy buffs are scrambling to find possible prophecies of this event and
to unravel any relevant coded messages and to decipher their commentary.
According to one index of a wide range of such studies, "The various
Bible Codes show the 911 terrorist attack very specially and warn us that if
we seek a path of hot retaliation rather than humble reconciliation with our
Muslim brothers that we will enter World War III and our civilization will
be annihilated."
As an example of the specificity mentioned, the traditional "Bible
Code," which has not been without its controversy, weighs in with words
like "Trade, Center, World, Pentagon, America, Catastrophe, 11 Sept,
2001, Tuesday, Bin-Laden, Osama, Terrorist of God, New York, Babylon."
These words are found in various combinations of equidistant letter
sequences between Isaiah 46 and 52 in the Hebrew text. The author
of this discovery, Dean Mansfield, states that the commentary of the
plain text actually hints at an allowing hand of God in punishing
a hypocritical United States, as a call for her to change her ways lest
worse catastrophes ensue. "Is ancient Babylon being used to
punish modern Babylon?" Mansfield asks.
Another code called "Alphabetics" uses the alphabetical
sequence of words and the associated numbers. The key number used is
911, referring to the September 11 date. The discoverer of this code,
Sterling D. Allan, shows how on page 911 of a New Testament Greek dictionary
by Spiros Zodhiates, are the phrases: "unawares; hewn in rock;
community of free people, disorganized crowd or multitude; a rich,
commercial city; the Muslims destroyed the city, and today it is a heap of
ruins." The name "Laoden," a variation transliteration
of Laden, inserts alphabetically on p. 911 with the above phrases.
In another alphabetics study by Allan, the words on page 911 of an English
Webster's dictionary are quoted, including "underestimate,"
"underexpose," and "underhand." Referring to the
other four dozen words on the page, ending with "undervalue,"
Allan comments, "The overwhelming theme of these words in general, with
the prefix of 'under,' is that of feeling inferior and unappreciated, hence
the anger." He then urges his readers to remember the
equality of all men, and to work for resolution of this conflict through
reaching out to their brothers, especially in the Muslim world.
Jordan B. Smith, who compares events on concurrent dates in history, notes
that September 11 "is the same day in the Mayan/Aztec Calendar as
February 26, 1993, when the other World Trade Center attack occurred."
Smith actually mentioned that connection on the day previous to the
attack. In another observation, Smith noted that Black Tuesday
was 375 time 70 days prior to the September 11 attack. Allan then
observed that the word "seven" appears on page 911 of a
standard Bible Concordance by James Strong. The seven is noted as
being significant in terms of denoting the number of towers in the
World Trade Center complex.
In addition to coded messages, direct prophecies are discussed as well,
such as Revelation 18 that speaks of Babylon the Great city coming to
naught in a single hour and all the world watching on in awe and
terror. The question is then asked as to whether this recent attack
rises to the level of fulfilling that prophecy, or if it is a 'shot across
the bow' of what is to come, for the prophecy describes something far more
terrible than what transpired on Sept. 11.
Other prophecy watchers suggest that the attack is indeed the fulfillment
and indicates that because the people of the world are hearkening to the
various warnings sufficiently that the severity of destructions is being
diminished and could be diminished yet further if we continue on a path of
reconciliation and resolve to brotherly kindness. Bonnie Angier
says, "The only perfect way to 'punish' is to do it out of compassion. They
do deserve punishment -- but as a result of their choices; not as a result
of our pain and fear. If we gave in to our anger, what differentiates
us from them?"
Considering future ramifications, modern prophetic statements are also
cited, such as one given by Dumitri Duduman in a prophecy given in September
1984 title, "America Will Burn." He warns that if Americans
to not mend their ways and get their lives right with God, that in an
hour they think all is peace and safety that sudden destruction will come
upon them. He said it would begin with internal unrest because of
events which he did not know at the time. When he asked the
angel how America could possibly burn, he said the angel replied, "The
government will be busy with internal problems. Then from the ocean, from
Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico,... (He told me two other countries, but I didn't
remember what they were.) ...they will bomb the nuclear warehouses. When
they explode, America will burn!"
Other prophecies discussed include unintentional coincidences, such as
a humor column published in the September 11 morning edition of the Salt
Lake Tribune by Robert Kirby, titled, "Flying a Plane Is Easy; Even I
Can Do It." In retrospect, he lamented to a reader, "Yup, I
couldn't have planned it worse." Then true to his quick wit,
Kirby added, "The only consolation is that the CIA didn't see it
coming either," to which the response came back to him, "Don't be
surprised if you get a knock on your door! . . . from Osama Bin Ladin
or the like."
Rich Kuchinsky notes that there are several elevens involved.
"The World Trade Centre looked like a giant 11; AA flight from Boston
was # 11; the buildings had 110 stories; the date is September 11."
Allan proposes that the eleven symbolizes two brothers who are separate, who
need to become one: Ishmael and Isaac, the Muslim world and the
Jewish/Christian world.
More discussion and discovery continues to pour in, as the deep significance
of what will henceforth be abbreviated "911" sinks in. "Not
only did I fly the flag at half mast on Tuesday, but I flew it
up-side-down," noted Allan, who has been compiling this index
of studies. "This is not the last of what is in store for us, but
if we mend our ways, the worst will not happen. That is why we study
these prophecies and codes: to try to learn from them so as to actually turn
away what otherwise is sure to come."
