The Movie "Serendipity" and 9-11
Synchronistic commentary in contrast, depicting the peaceful side of New
York City and the World Trade Center prior to the September 11 disruption.

My wife and I went to see the movie "Serendipity" last night on
the first night of its showing here in town. It is the first movie we've seen in a very long time
(many months). Excellent movie, by the way. I loved it. Right down my alley.
As you know, the 911 phenomenon has been nearly all-consuming for me as I have compiled the
various indexes catalogued at Greaterthings.com/News/911
and have created the new website ReliefMine.com
The word "serendipity" means "an aptitude for making fortunate discoveries by
accident."
What is amazing is that the coincidence of our watching that particular show at this time is
synchronistic with the events of the world lately, upon which I have been almost singularly
focused.
The movie "Serendipity" is about a man and a woman who meet by a stroke of fate, and
then try and find each other as fate brings them together once again.
Ironically (serendipitously?), what I did not know in advance of watching the show, was that the
setting for the movie is in New York city. The back-drop for their first romantic date together is
an ice-skating rink in the middle of Manhattan, with the World Trade Center in the background.
That same location also figures prominently at the conclusion of the film.
The movie also involves flying in a plane to New York, and getting off a plane leaving New York in
time to meet at the destined place.
Speaking of synchronicity, I don't know if we could have watched a more ironically fitting movie
that portrays New York and the World Trade Center in as about as peaceful a setting as possible,
prior to the events of 911 which completely altered that city and the world.
I just thought you might find that interesting.

Review (CinemaMontreal.com)
One magical night in their twenties, Jonathan
(John Cusack) met Sara (Kate Beckinsale). He was in love at first sight but Sara believed in
destiny. Now, after ten years, two fiancιes, and 3,000 miles between them, only fate can decide
if they're destined to be together again. When love feels like magic...you call it destiny. When
destiny has a sense of humor... you call it... Serendipity.
