Bush Inauguration Impressions - a moment of greatness for
our nation

I was able to watch the inauguration of President
George W. Bush on television this morning and thought I would share some
impressions /observations.
First, and most important, I would like to say that I felt his speech was, for
the most part, extremely inspired and inspiring. Considering the criticism I
have leveled at various facets of his past as well as recent insider
activities, such a paradoxical complimentary statement coming from me has more
weight than if I were just a patsy Bush fan all along.

Oh that they truly meant the things they said, and that we could live up to
the ideals presented. Part of me rejoices that such words are even spoken and
set forth as the ideal. Part of me is angry at the facade that covers the
darker agendas that control things behind the scenes.
But today, I think my general feeling is more one of rejoicing than of
grumbling. The inauguration speech served as a worthy invocation for the next
four years. Let's not be afraid to acknowledge goodness when we see it. The
benediction for the event was likewise very moving. I even saw Clinton nod his
head in humble ascent when words of God's blessings over him as he leaves and
moves on were offered in the prayer.
In my heart, I am glad and even hopeful in seeing that Dubya is more religious
than his father. I noticed during the invocation that his Dad didn't even
close his eyes (yes I was watching). Nor did the wife of Dick Cheney. Make a
note of that.
Another observation. It was very cold and rainy there in D.C. where the event
took place. Yet when President Bush was giving his speech, there was no hint
whatsoever that he was either cold nor that there was rain drizzling on his
head. He might as well have been speaking from inside the Oval office. I felt
impressed that the reason for this was that the Spirit of the Lord was
sustaining him as he spoke.
Editor's Note: It has since been learned that there
was a covering over the podium, as well as a space heater in front of it to
keep the speaker warm and dry.
Now in saying that, I am not implying that I believe him to be a wholly
righteous man. I still stand by the reservations and concerns as expressed at

I am saying that because of the great destiny that is America's, God will
still work with her and sustain her in her goodness, while rebuking her in her
waywardness.
All said, today's speech and its moving delivery by President George W. Bush
bolster the hope I have in my heart that his religious inclinations and
mooring could be a tool for the Lord to pull this nation away from some of its
conspiratorial entrapments and toward greater trust in the Almighty. That such
may be the case is my humble prayer.
Sincerely,

I had to laugh as the television cameras showed Dubya walking into the event.
It was so obvious that he was doing his durndest to look dignified. You could
almost see him concentrating out loud: "look dignified, look
presidential, look dignified, look presidential . . ." He looked like a
kid pretending like he was a grown-up.
Looking back now, I will say that in contrast, when he was delivering his
speech, no such effort was being made on his part, nor did he need to. He
looked dignified. He looked Presidential. Because he was.
To close, I would like to share a little 'miracle' that occurred for me prior
to watching this event. I was reading the morning paper, wondering when the
Inauguration was going to be held so I could watch it. I finally opened to a
page that gave that information. "9:30 AM MST" it read. I looked at
the clock. It read "9:30." So my wife and I hurried to get our
things together and we went over to her mother's place across the street so we
could watch it (we currently choose not to subscribe to television reception
in our apartment). Apparently the events were running behind schedule, so we
didn't miss anything.
