Inventor, Carl Tilley, took a 1981 DeLorean, and replaced the combustion engine with an electric motor supplied by Electric Vehicles of America.  He then attached an array of twelve regular 12-volt batteries arranged in series to give around 144 volts, placed at various locations in the car where they would fit, to run the 170-volt electric motor.  None of this is new or unique (perhaps except for the idea of converting a DeLorean to an electric car, unless you count the use of a DeLorean in the movie Back to the Future.)  The crux of the system is a charger unit that Tilley attaches to the batteries to keep them fully charged at all times.

Carl Tilley and his foundation are very tight-lipped about how their charger unit works.  All we know is that the power coming off the battery operates the electric motor, and the electric motor turns some kind of generator that then powers the batteries through some new method that appears to defy our current understanding of the laws of physics.  According to Jan Roos, a mechanical engineer who flew from Massechusettes for the demo to offer freelance professional opinion to Channel 5 TV in Nashville, it "implies a new technology waiting to be explored" by the mainstream of science, but which has been embraced by others for more than a century.

The Tilley Foundation also has other applications for variations of their technology, such as a generator unit that will supply enough electricity for a house or a business.  At this point, any information being circulated about how their technology works is speculative in nature.  What can be said is that somehow, the device is tapping into an unusual energy source.  Furthermore, there are similar technologies that have not yet been appreciated by the general public, which have been demonstrated elsewhere.  The key components that make this device work are likely to be variations on knowledge that has been around for more than a century, such as that brought forth by the famous and controversial scientist, Nikola Tesla.
