EDITORIAL:
Cease Culture of Violence

Greater Things Newsletter #20 -- 4/23/99

Hello,

In the wake of the tragic shooting at the school in Littleton, Colorado, I penned an editorial calling a need to voluntarily put an end to the many voices for violence in our culture -- which we put up with and even franchise by our patronage, making them billion-dollar industries.

After sending this editorial to several people on my personal e-mailing list, along with several newspapers, I received quite an interesting array of response.  Most were laudatory.

One asked the question, "And Your God is Non-Violent?" citing examples from the Bible of gruesome bloodletting in the name of God. Replying to this tough question enabled me to touch on some false premises generally held in the mainstream Christian and Mormon cultures. (Paradigm shift material.)

The original editorial, "Cease the Culture of Violence," along with the dialogue it stimulated, are now posted to Greater Things web site under "Editorials." It is also listed under "New Stuff" from the web header.

Sincerely,

Sterling D. Allan

All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
