INTRODUCTION
J J Dewey in his book, The Immortal (www.freeread.com) about his
interactions with John the beloved revelator, teaches that a person (human
conscious entity rooted in decision) evolving in his/her upward journey
toward godhood will experience roughly 1000 mortal lives by the time it is
accomplished.
There is some interesting validation and exposition for this premise in the
Alphabetics Word-Number study approach, which looks both at words in
alphabetic vicinity of a word as well as the numbers associated with the
word in its alphabetic location.
ALEPH = 1000 = GOD
The first letter in the Hebrew alphabet, aleph, has as one of its meanings,
"One thousand."
In rabbinical tradition, the letter aleph itself stands for God. "To
define
aleph is to define God."
I've known for some time that the number 1000 is linked to the idea of God
and godhood, so it was easy for me to believe what John/Dewey said about
1000 being the number of lives a person typically lives before graduating
and achieving the stature of the beginning ranks of godhood.
THE GREEK WORD FOR 1000 VERSUS 666
In Zodhiates' lexicon of the NT, the words for "a thousand" (5505,
5507) are
face to face with the word for "666" (5516) on the opposite page.
This
classic struggle between the godliness in us and the beastly nature in us is
addressed with fresh insight by John/Dewey, e.g. his recent post on "The
Dweller on the Threshold."
The word just prior to the first word for "thousand" is chthes,
which means
"yesterday, former times." The synonyms, "long ago, from of
old, in the old
time;" carry the idea of "ancient" as in "Ancient of
days;" and together
with the antonyms, "tomorrow, afterward, later, last, final;" convey
the
idea of Alpha and Omega.
The word following word 5507 "a thousand," word 5508 has a couple of
plays
on words. The Greek word is Chios, a proper noun. The name "Chios"
is very
close to the English word "choice," which is a synonym of the word
"decision" which John/Dewey teaches is the essence of who or what we
are.
In the explanation given by Zodhiates, he says that Chios is "A Greek
island
west of Smyrna, between Samos and Lesbos." What is interesting about this
is that Hebrew words 996 and 997 (just prior to 1000) both mean
"between"
and are derived from word 996 which has the meaning of
"distinguishing" or
DECISION.
WORD 1000 IN THE OT LEXICON
The 1000th word, listed alphabetically (James Strong) in the Old Testament
means "an egg." This carries the idea of an embryo. We as humans are
Gods
(1000) in embryo.
The two words just before it mean "understanding, intelligence"
(998, 999).
"Intelligence" is the name Joseph Smith revealed to be the core
element of
our eternal being. See list of scriptures on "Intelligences."
The three word prior to that mean "to distinguish between, to
discern"
(995-997). That brings to mind the word "decision," which is the key
word
of "Who or what we are" according to John/Dewey. It is the idea of
agency
or free will that makes up our consciousness.
The three words following word 1000 mean "fortress, castle, palace,"
as well
as "temple, throne" (1001-1003). I think of the idea of God dwelling
in us,
as we are the temple of God, and he is our fortress, our rock if we will
have him to be our God.
The very next word, 1004, is bet, "a house." Bet also happens to be
the
second letter of the Hebrew alphabet. So aleph means 1000, and in close
vicinity to word 1000 is the word bet. Together we get "alphabet,"
or the
idea of "the word." (Another great endorsement of this 'alphabetics'
approach to deriving hidden meaning from the words of scripture.)
Also, aleph and bet together spell "ab" which is the Hebrew word for
"Father," which again is the idea of God. See "God the Father
and Mother in
Alphabetics Bible Code."
PAGE 1000 IN ZODHIATES' NT LEXICON
The first word on page 1000 of Zodhiates' New Testament lexicon has the word
"thousand" in its definition. The first word is 3463, murios, which
means
"ten thousand." The words before and after it both have to do with
anointing, which is the meaning of Christ or Messiah.
Another very interesting word on page 1000 is word 3466
3466 musterion, A secret, or esoteric knowledge. (I) Denotes in general
something hidden or not fully manifest. (II) Some sacred thing hidden or
secret which is naturally unknown to human reason and is only known by the
revelation of God. (III) Paul speaks of the mystery of the relationship
between Christ and His Church as being great. Musterion denotes a spiritual
truth couched under an external representation or similitude and concealed
or hidden thereby unless some explanation is given.
Speaking of Church, on the facing or opposite page is the insertion point
alphabetically of the name "Mormon" between moria "folly,
foolishness," and
morologia, "foolish talking." Ironically "foolish" is the
definition of
word 801 in the NT lexicon, and 801 is the telephone area code where the
Mormon church headquarters are located and its largest concentration of
members found. I think of Jesus parable of the "wise" and the
"foolish"
virgins. See write-up "Mormons and 801: As Salt that has Lost its
Savor."
One of the great mysteries revealed through founder Joseph Smith is that
"As
man is, God once was; and as God is, man may become." This doctrine is
shunned by the current membership as exemplified by a recent interview of
Mormon President Gordon B. Hinckley on the subject. "I don't know that we
teach it. I don't know that we emphasize it ... I understand the
philosophical background behind it, but I don't know a lot about it, and I
don't think others know a lot about it."
Interesting that the word after "mystery" on page 1000 is 3467
muopazo, "To
shut the eyes, blink, to squint like one who cannot see clearly."
As another validation of the theme presented above, Zodhiates' explanation
for word 3464 which means "ointment" includes the words
"distinction," and
"between."
Though these are not part of the definition, their mention is significant in
our context, especially in a word that means "ointment," which links
to the
name "Christ."
Word 3462, which begins on page 999 and spills onto page 1000 means "To
anoint for burial, embalm." I think of the idea of life and death and
1000
multiple mortal probations to achieve the state of Godhood.
CONCLUSIONS
There is more that could be said about each of these words and their
locations, but what has been shown provides strong enough evidence that as
John/Dewey teaches, the number 1000 is associate with God and our destiny as
his offspring to become like him through a series of 1000 some human
lifetimes.
