| 2 Nevertheless, they call themselves of the
holy city, |
yea, all ye that are broken off, |
yea, even upon the face of this land; |
| but they do not stay themselves upon the God
of Israel, |
that are scattered abroad, who are of
my people, O house of Israel. |
and by them shall our seed be scattered.
8 And after our seed is scattered |
| who is the Lord of Hosts; yea, the
Lord of Hosts is his name. |
Listen, O isles, unto me, |
the Lord God |
| 3 Behold, I have declared |
and hearken |
will proceed to do a marvelous work |
| the former things |
ye people from far; |
among the Gentiles, |
| from the beginning; |
the Lord hath called me from the womb; from
the bowels of my mother |
which shall be of great worth unto our seed; |
| and they went forth |
hath he made mention of my
name. |
wherefore, it is likened |
| out of my mouth, |
2 And he hath made my mouth like a
sharp sword; |
unto their being nourished by the
Gentiles |
| and I showed them. |
in the shadow of his hand hath he hid
me, |
and being carried in their arms and upon
their shoulders. |
| I did show them suddenly. |
and made me a polished shaft;
in his quiver hath he hid me; |
9 And it shall also be of worth unto the
Gentiles; |
| 4 And I did it |
3 And said unto me: Thou art my servant,
O Israel, |
and not only unto the Gentiles but unto all
the house of Israel, |
| because I knew |
in whom I will be glorified. |
unto the making known |
| that thou art obstinate, |
4 Then I said, I have labored in vain, |
of the covenants of the Father
of heaven unto Abraham, saying:
In thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth
be blessed. |
| and thy neck is an iron sinew, |
I have spent my strength for naught |
| and thy brow brass; |
and in vain; |
| 5 And I have even from the beginning declared
to thee; before it came to pass I showed them thee; |
surely my judgment is with the Lord, |
10 And I would, my brethren, that ye should
know that all the kindreds of the earth cannot be blessed |
| and I showed them for fear lest thou shouldst
say--mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my
molten image hath commanded them. |
and my work with my God. |
unless he shall make bare his arm in
the eyes of the nations. |
| 6 Thou hast seen and heard all this; and will
ye not declare them? |
And now, saith the Lord--that formed me from
the womb that I should be his servant, |
11 Wherefore, the Lord God will proceed to
make bare his arm in the eyes of all the nations, |
| And that I have showed thee new things
|
to bring Jacob again
to him |
in bringing about his covenants
and his gospel |
| from this time, |
--though Israel be not gathered, |
unto those who are of the house of Israel. |
| even hidden things, |
yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of
the Lord, and my God shall be my strength. |
12 Wherefore, he will bring them again out
of captivity, |
| and thou didst not know them. |
6 And he said: It is a light thing that thou
shouldst be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, |
and they shall be gathered together to the
lands of their inheritance; |
| 7 They are created now, and not from the
beginning, |
and to restore the preserved of Israel. |
and they shall be brought out of obscurity
and out of darkness; |
| even before the day when thou heardest them
not they were declared unto thee, lest thou shouldst say -- Behold I
knew them. |
I will also give thee for a light to the
Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the ends of the earth. |
and they shall know that the Lord is their
Savior and their Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel. |
