II Nephi HUGE Parallel
2 Nephi -2 - 10+ = 2 Nephi -18 - 28+
(Including Isaiah 8-14, 29, 50, 51)
Continued From Above
(Isaiah 51)
(** 2 Nephi 8 **) |
(**2 Nephi 26**)
. |
| 1 HEARKEN unto me, ye that follow after righteousness. |
1 AND after Christ shall have risen
from the dead [@he that
overcometh shall...@ (Rev.)] |
. |
| Look unto the rock |
he shall show himself unto you, |
. |
| from whence ye are hewn,
my children, and my beloved brethren;
[@shall be his sons and His daughters@ (Mosiah
5:7)] |
. |
| and to the hole of the pit from whence ye are
digged.
[@that they might stumble@ (Jacob
4:14)] |
and the words which he shall
speak unto you shall be the law which ye shall do.
[In contrast to and relief from the law of Moses] |
. |
2 Look unto Abraham,
your father ,
and unto Sarah,
she that bare you;
2 For behold, I say unto you that I have beheld that many
generations shall pass away,
[lineal descent alone is insufficient]
. |
| for I called him alone,
[called to be the salt of the earth, the saviors of men] |
and there shall be great wars
[Elitist/racial intolerance] |
. |
| and blessed him.
[shall all the nations of the earth be blessed] |
and contentions among my people.
[Jealousy, pride, coveting] |
. |
| 3 For the Lord shall comfort Zion,
[and they shall find rest] |
3 And after the Messiah shall come
[and they crucify him] |
. |
| he will comfort all her waste places;
and he will make her wilderness like Eden,
and her desert like the garden of the Lord. |
there shall be signs given unto my people of
his birth, and also of his death and resurrection;
and great and terrible shall that day be unto the wicked,
for they shall perish; |
. |
| Joy and gladness |
and they perish |
. |
| shall be found therein, |
because they cast out the prophets, and the
saints, and stone them, and slay them; |
. |
| thanksgiving |
wherefore the cry of the blood of the saints |
. |
| and the voice of melody. |
shall ascend up to God from the ground against
them. |
. |
| 4 Hearken unto me, my people;
[broken heart, contrite spirit] |
4 Wherefore, all those who are proud,
[who trust in man and make flesh his arm] |
. |
| and give ear unto me, O my nation;
[Holy Ghost shall tell you all things;
establish His righteousness] |
and that do wickedly,
[natural man is an enemy to God]
. |
| for a law shall proceed from me,
[by the law they are cut off] |
the day that cometh shall burn them up,
saith the Lord of Hosts,
. |
| and I will make my judgment to rest for a light for
the people. [a light shineth in darkness] |
for they shall be as stubble.
[and the darkness comprhendeth it not] |
. |
| 5 My righteousness is near;
my salvation is gone forth,
and mine arm shall judge the people. |
5 And they that kill the prophets,
and the saints,
. |
The isles
shall wait upon me,
[for the people of the Lord are they who wait for
him]
the depths of the earth
shall swallow them up, saith the Lord of Hosts;
and mountains
[@that day shall overtake the wicked as a thief in the night@] |
shall cover them,
and whirlwinds
shall carry them away,
. |
| and on mine arm shall they trust.
[Lord shall make bare his arm] |
and buildings shall fall upon them and crush
them to pieces and grind them to powder.
["on whomsoever this stone shall fall, it will
grind him to powder" (Matt. 21:44)] |
. |
6 Lift up your eyes |
6 And they shall be visited |
. |
to the heavens,
with thunderings,
and lightnings, |
. |
and look upon the earth beneath; |
and earthquakes, |
. |
for the heavens shall vanish away |
and all manner of destructions, |
. |
like smoke,
for the fire of the anger of the Lord shall
be kindled against them, |
. |
and the earth shall wax old like a garment; |
and they shall be as stubble, |
. |
and they that dwell therein shall die
in like manner. |
and the day that cometh shall consume them,
. |
But my salvation
shall be forever,
and my righteousness
shall not be abolished.
. |
7 Hearken unto me, |
saith the Lord of Hosts. |
. |
ye that know righteousness,
7 O the pain, and the anguish
[Those whom the Lord loves he chasteneth] |
. |
the people in whose heart
of my soul for the loss of the slain of my
people! [compassion/bowels of mercy] |
. |
I have written my law, |
For I, Nephi, have seen it, |
. |
fear ye not the reproach
of men, |
and it well nigh consumeth me
. |
before the presence of the Lord; neither
be ye afraid
of their revilings. |
but I must cry
unto my God: |
. |
8 For the moth
shall eat them up
like a garment,
and the worm
shall eat them
like wool.
Thy ways are just. |
. |
But my righteousness |
8 But behold, the righteous |
. |
shall be forever, |
that hearken unto the words of the
prophets, and destroy them not,
. |
and my salvation |
but look forward unto Christ |
. |
from generation to generation. |
with steadfastness
. |
9 Awake, awake! |
for the signs which are given, |
. |
Put on strength, |
notwithstanding all persecution-- |
. |
O arm of the Lord; |
behold, they are they which shall not perish. |
. |
awake as in the ancient days. |
9 But the Son of righteousness shall appear
unto them; |
. |
Art thou not he that hath cut
Rahab,
and wounded
the dragon? |
and he shall heal
them,
. |
10 Art thou not he who hath dried the sea, the
waters of the great deep;
["peace, be still"] |
and they shall have peace with him, |
. |
that hath made the depths of the sea
a way
until three generations
shall have passed away,
and many of the fourth generation
shall have passed away
. |
for the ransomed |
in righteousness. |
. |
to pass over? |
10 And when these things have passed away |
. |
11 Therefore, the redeemed of the Lord |
a speedy destruction |
. |
shall return,
and come |
cometh unto my people;
. |
with singing |
. |
for, notwithstanding the pains of my soul,
unto Zion; |
I have seen it; wherefore, I know that it
shall come to pass; |
. |
and everlasting joy |
and they sell themselves for naught; |
. |
and holiness shall be upon their heads; |
for, for the reward of their pride
and their foolishness |
. |
and they shall obtain |
they shall reap |
. |
gladness and joy; |
destruction; |
. |
sorrow |
for because they yield unto the devil |
. |
and mourning |
and choose works of darkness rather than
light, |
. |
shall flee away. |
therefore they must go down to hell. |
. |
12 I am he;
yea, I am he |
11 For the Spirit of the Lord
. |
that comforteth you. |
will not always strive with man. |
. |
a Behold, who art thou, that thou shouldst be
afraid of man,
b who shall die,
a And when the Spirit ceaseth to strive with man
. |
a and of the son of man,
b who shall be made like unto grass?
b then cometh speedy destruction,
and this grieveth my soul. |
. |
13 And forgettest |
12 And as I spake concerning the convincing
of the Jews, |
. |
the Lord thy maker, |
that Jesus |
. |
that hath stretched forth
the heavens,
and laid the foundations
of the earth,
is the very Christ, |
. |
and hast feared continually every day,
[@feared man more than God@ (D&C
3:7)] |
it must needs be that the Gentiles
be convinced also |
. |
because of the fury of the oppressor,
as if he were ready to destroy?
And where is the fury of the oppressor?
["we have made a covenant with death; and
with hell are we at agreement" (Isa. 28:15)] |
that Jesus
is the Christ,
the Eternal God;
[the arm of the Lord is not shortened at all that he
cannot redeem (D&C 133:67)] |
. |
14 The captive exile hasteneth,
that he may be loosed,
and that he should not die in the pit,
nor that his bread should
fail. |
13 And that he manifesteth himself
unto all those who believe in him,
by the power of the Holy Ghost;
yea, unto every nation, kindred, tongue, and people,
. |
15 But I am the Lord thy God,
whose waves roared; |
working mighty
miracles,
signs,
and wonders, |
. |
the Lord of Hosts |
among the children of men [Immanuel] |
. |
is my name. |
according to their faith. |
. |
16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, |
14 But behold, I prophesy unto you |
. |
concerning the last days;
concerning the days |
. |
and have covered thee in the shadow
of mine hand,
that I may plant the heavens
and lay the foundations of the earth,
when the Lord God shall bring these things forth |
. |
and say unto Zion:
Behold, thou art my people. |
unto the children of men. |
. |
a 17 Awake, awake,
b stand up,
c O Jerusalem,
c 15 After my seed and the seed of my
brethren
b shall have dwindled
a in unbelief, |
. |
which hast drunk |
and shall have been smitten |
. |
at the hand |
by the Gentiles; |
. |
of the Lord |
yea, after the Lord God |
. |
the cup of his fury-- |
shall have camped against them round about, |
. |
thou hast drunken the dregs |
and shall have laid siege against them with
a mount, |
. |
of the cup of trembling wrung out-- |
and raised forts against them; |
. |
a 18 And none to guide her
b among all the sons
c she hath brought forth;
a neither that taketh her by
the hand,
b of all the sons
c she hath brought up.
b and after they
c shall have been brought down
a low in the dust,
b even that they
a are not, |
. |
19 These two sons |
yet the words of the righteous |
. |
are come unto thee, |
shall be written, |
. |
who shall be sorry for thee-- |
and the prayers of the faithful shall
be heard, |
. |
thy desolation
and destruction,
and the famine
and the sword--
and all those who have dwindled in unbelief
[a famine for hearing the word] |
. |
and by whom shall I comfort thee? |
shall not be forgotten. |
. |
20 Thy sons |
16 For those |
. |
have fainted, |
who shall be destroyed |
. |
save these two; |
shall speak unto them out of the ground, |
. |
they lie at the head of all the streets; |
and their speech shall be low out of the dust, |
. |
as a wild bull in a net,
[now will I cry like a travailing woman
(Isa. 42:14)] |
and their voice shall be as one that hath a
familiar spirit; |
. |
a they
b are full of the fury
c of the Lord,
c for the Lord God will give
a unto him [3 Ne. 21:8-11]
b power,
. |
the rebuke of thy God.
that he may whisper concerning them,
even as it were out of the ground; |
. |
21 Therefore hear now this, |
and their speech shall whisper
out of the dust. |
. |
a-1 thou afflicted,
a-2 and drunken,
a-3 and not with wine: [Isa.
55:1-3]
b 22 Thus saith thy Lord, the Lord and
thy God
c pleadeth the cause of his people;
b 17 For thus saith the Lord God:
c They shall write the things which shall be
done among them,
c and they shall be written and sealed
up in a book,
a-1 and those who have dwindled
a-2 in unbelief
a-3 shall not have them, |
. |
[Zion/Jerusalem] |
[Gentiles]
[First shall be last, last shall be first] |
. |
behold, I have taken |
for they seek to destroy the things of God. |
out of thine hand |
18 Wherefore, as those who have been destroyed |
. |
the cup of trembling, |
have been destroyed speedily; |
. |
the dregs |
and the multitude of their terrible ones |
. |
of the cup of my fury; |
shall be as chaff that passeth away-- |
. |
thou shalt no more drink it again. |
yea, thus saith the Lord God: It shall be at an instant,
suddenly-- |
. |
23 But I will put it into the hand of them that
afflict thee; |
19 And it shall come to pass, that those who have
dwindled in unbelief
[Once native Americans, now modern
Americans] |
. |
a who have said to thy soul: Bow down,
b that we may go over--
a and thou hast laid thy body as the ground
and as the street
b to them that went over.
a shall be smitten
b by the hand of the Gentiles.
[first shall be last; last, first]
. |
a 24 Awake,
a awake,
b put on thy strength,
c O Zion;
[chiastic arrangement of correlation reaffirms the Afirst shall
be last; last shall be first@ paradigm.] |
c 20 And the Gentiles
b are lifted up in the pride of their
eyes,
a and have stumbled,
a because of the greatness of their stumbling
block, |
. |
put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem,
[clean hands & pure heart] |
that they have built up many churches; [&temples]
[great show; great statistics] |
. |
the holy city; |
nevertheless, they put down the power and miracles
of God, |
. |
for henceforth there shall no more come into
thee | |
