Alma 26:14-21 = D&C 11:10-18 -- gift of praise

Alma 26	D&C 11
v14 Yea, we have reason to praise him forever, [Moroni 10:18 "...every good gift cometh of Christ..."]	a v10 Behold, thou hast a gift, a or thou shalt have a gift . . b if thou wilt desire of me in faith, . . b with an honest heart,
for he is the Most High God,	believing in the power of Jesus Christ,
and has loosed our brethren from the chains of hell. [contrast]	or in my power which speaketh unto thee. [contrast]
a v15 Yea, they were encircled about	a v11 For, behold, it is I that speak;
. . b with everlasting darkness	a behold, I AM
. . . . c and destruction; a but behold, he has brought them . . b into his everlasting light, . . . . c yea, into everlasting salvation; a and they are encircled about . . b with the matchless bounty . . . . c of his love;	. . b the light which shineth in darkness,
yea, and we have been instruments in his hands of doing this GREAT AND MARVELOUS WORK.	and by MY POWER I give these words* unto thee*.
$ yea, we will glory in the Lord; $ v16 Therefore, let us glory, $ yea, we will rejoice,	a-1 v12 And now, verily, verily, a-2 I say unto thee, a-3 put your trust in that Spirit . . b which leadeth to do good-- . . . . c yea, to do justly, . . . . . . d to walk humbly, . . . . c to judge righteously; . . b and this is my Spirit. a-1 v13 Verily, verily, a-2 I say unto you, a-3 I will impart unto you of my Spirit,
$ for our joy is full; $ yea, we will praise our God forever.	$ which shall enlighten your mind, $ which shall fill your soul with joy;
$ Behold, who can glory too much in the Lord? $ Yea, who can say too much . . - of his great power, . . - and of his mercy, . . - and of his long-suffering towards the children of men? $ Behold, I say unto you, I cannot say the smallest part which I feel.	a v14 And then shall ye know, a or by this shall you know, ALL THINGS . . b whatsoever you *desire* of me, . . b which are pertaining unto things of righteousness, . . b in *faith believing* in me that you shall receive.

v17 Who could have supposed	v15 Behold, I command you that you need not suppose that our God would have been so merciful as to have snatched us from our awful, sinful, and polluted state?
that you are called to preach unto you are called.	v18 Behold, we went forth even in wrath, with mighty threatenings
v16 Wait a little longer, until you shall have my word, my rock, my church, and my gospel, that you may know of a surety my doctrine.	to destroy his church.
v19 Oh then,	v17 And then, behold,
a why did he not . . b consign us . . . . c to an awful destruction,	a according to . . . . . . d your desires,
a yea, why did he not . . b let . . . . c the sword of his justice fall upon us, . . b and doom us . . . . c to eternal despair?	a yea, even according to . . . . . . d your faith
v20 Oh, my soul, almost as it were, fleeth at the thought.	[Omission]
Behold, he did not exercise his justice	shall it be done
upon us,	unto you.
but in his great mercy hath brought us over that everlasting gulf of death and misery, even to the salvation of our souls.	v18 Keep my commandments;
v21 And now behold, my brethren, what natural man is there that knoweth these things?	HOLD YOUR PEACE; [Compare Zeph. 1:7; See Alma 12:9 "...They are laid under strict command that they shall not impart..."; Also 1 Cor. 2:14 "...The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit..."]
I say unto you, there is none that knoweth these things, save it be the penitent.	appeal unto my Spirit;
