1 Nephi 2:15-24 Exodus 3:1-20
v15 And my father dwelt in a tent. v1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian:
v16 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, being exceedingly young, nevertheless being large in stature, and he led the flock to the backside of the desert,
and also having great desires to know of the mysteries of God, wherefore, I did cry unto the Lord;

[Compare 1 Ne. 18:3: "And I, Nephi, did go into the mount oft, and I did pray oft unto the Lord; wherefore the Lord showed unto me great things."]

and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
and behold he did VISIT me, v2 And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush:
and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
v3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
v4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
and did soften my heart v5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
that I did believe all the words which had been spoken by my father; v6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
$ wherefore, I

- did not rebel against him like unto my brothers.

$ v17 And I spake unto Sam, making known unto him the things which the Lord had manifested unto me by his Holy Spirit. And it came to pass that he

$ And Moses

and being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts I cried unto the Lord for them. [omission] [Moses frequently petitioned the Lord on behalf of his people. See Numb. 14:19; Deut. 9:24-28.]
v19 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: v7 And the Lord said,
Blessed art thou, Nephi, because of thy faith, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt,
for thou hast sought me diligently, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters;
with lowliness of heart. for I know their sorrows;
v20 And Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments,

[D&C 93:1: "...Every soul who...keepeth my commandments..."]

v8 And I am come

[D&C 93:1 "...shall see my face and know that I am...."]

Schopenhauer
All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
