General Conference Talk Exerpt Chiasm in Script April, 1987 (Ensign, May, p. 84.) from ETB 'Words & Way They are Used' Gen. Conf. Chiasm
Therefore it is expedient that we should put to use the value inherent in the words of the Book of Mormon, as testified in Moroni, chapter 10, and in the testimonies of the Three and the Eight Witnesses and in various sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. We each need to get our own testimony of the Book of Mormon. A personal conviction through the Holy Ghost has a more powerful effect upon the minds of the people, for the Spirit is sharper than the two-edged sword, or anything else, which can happen. Then our testimony, coupled with the Book of Mormon, should be shared with others, as the preaching of the word has a great tendency to lead the people to do that which is just, because they, too, can know through the Holy Ghost of the truthfulness of all things. Nephi testified that the power of the word as contained in the Book of Mormon is a result of them being the words of Christ, and that God uses these words as an instrument to change people=s lives--if they believe in Christ; and if people believe in Christ, they will believe in the Book of Mormon. It is therefore imperative we make use of the language of holy writ in our teaching of gospel principles, and that this become our source of understanding. This is why Alma said, AI...do command you in the language (meaning the words and the way they are used in the Book of Mormon) of him who hath commanded me,@ meaning the Lord, for it is the word of the Lord.
