Isaiah 66 = JST-II Thessalonians 2 Parallel in Script
from Isaiah 66 = II Thes. 2 Parallel
Thus saith the Lord, Jesus Christ, I beseech you, brethren, by my coming from heaven, which is my throne, to reign on the earth, which is my footstool: 2 Where is the house that ye were to build by your gathering together unto me? Where is the place of my rest? 3 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands.1 Hath not my hand made all these things?2 4 And all those things have been, saith the Lord, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled by letter, neither by spirit, nor by word, except ye receive it from me; 5 But to this man will I look, as the day of my power is at hand, even to him that is humble3 and of a contrite spirit, and is vigilant for my word. 6 And he that killeth an ox, sacrificeth a lamb, offereth an oblation, or burneth incense, with all deceivableness of unrighteousness, is as if he slew a man, cut off a dog's neck, offered swine's blood, or blessed an idol; and he shall perish. 7 Yea, they have chosen what their soul delighteth in, namely, the abominations of their own ways; because they received not the love of truth, that they might be saved. 8 And for this cause I, God, shall send them strong delusions of my choosing, that they should believe a lie: and I will bring their fears upon them; that they all might be damned; 9 Because when I called and spake, none did answer, for they did not hear, believing not the truth; but they did evil before mine eyes and had pleasure in unrighteousness, choosing that in which I delighted not. 10 Hear the word of the Lord, ye that are vigilant for his word, you brethren beloved of the Lord, for whom thanks is given alway to God: Your brethren hated you because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth; and they cast you out for my name's sake. 11 Whereunto I, the Lord Jesus Christ, called you by my gospel, to the obtaining my glory, and I shall appear to your joy; and they shall be ashamed. 12 Let no man deceive you by any means: for there shall come a falling away first. 13 Behold, a voice of noise from the city, that man of sin is unveiled, the son of perdition; who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, lifting his voice from the temple, showing himself that he is God. 14 And then shall that Wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, yea, the voice of the Lord. 15 And the Lord that rendereth recompense shall destroy his enemies with the brightness of his coming, yea, even Jesus, whose coming is not until after there cometh a falling away, by the working of Satan with all power and signs and wonders. 16 And now ye know what withholdeth, for before she travailed and her pain came, she brought forth and was delivered of a man child, that he might be unveiled in his time. 17 Who hath heard or seen such things? Remember ye not that I told you these things when I was yet with you? 18 And now ye know what withholdeth, for a nation shall be born which the earth shall be made to bring forth at once, in one day; for as soon as Zion travailed, in her time, she brought forth her children, that they might be unveiled. 19 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or by epistle; and I shall bring to the birth, and cause to bring forth, and not shut the womb, saith the Lord thy God. 20 Rejoice ye for joy with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, join in her celebration, all ye that love her and that mourn for her. 21 Yea I myself, the Lord Jesus Christ, and God, even your Father, hath loved you, and shall grant that ye may suck and milk out, and be everlastingly satisfied and delighted with the breasts of her consolations, even the abundance of her glory. 22 For thus saith the Lord, Through grace comes this good hope: behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and dandled upon her knees. 23 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort your hearts in Jerusalem. 24 And when ye see this stablished for you, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb. 25 And the hand of the Lord shall be known toward his servants in every good word; and his indignation toward his enemies and their work. 26 For the mystery of iniquity, and he who Christ suffereth to work it, doth already work, even now; until the time is fulfilled that he shall be taken out of the way. 27 For, behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire, in an instant suddenly.4 -- end --by William C.
