WAIT, DON'T GO TO THE FRIDGE, THIS IS THE PART THAT HELPS THE SHOW GO ON!
Re: Chance to receive a free music CD "A
Little Religion and Romance" by Sterling D. Allan as our way of
saying thanks for your pledge to Greater Things and/or Patriot Saints
(formerly American Study Group).
Don't you love it (sarcasm alert!) when Public Television Stations have
those pledge drives that go on and on and on interrupting the best shows,
telling you that "without the support of viewers like you this
programming would not be possible"?
Though Cheri and I have chosen not to have T.V. in our home at least for
this first year+ of our marriage, I used to enjoy some of the programming on
public television, and for the most part, rich or poor, I would dig into my
wallet and make donations when the drives came around. The laborer is worthy
of his hire.
Well, it is now time for a pledge drive from GreaterThings.com and the
forthcoming PatriotSaints.com
You can either make this painless, pull out your checkbook now and send us
a generous amount and have it over with, or you can impatiently listen to me
prattle on and on giving reason and explanation as to why you want to support
these ventures that benefit you. I think I can make a pretty good case.
Now it's our turn to wait by the phones to take the pledges that will come
streaming in as just the right combination of great show and M.C. plugs strike
the right chord in the viewer audience.
That's right, call the number on your screen and SHOW THIS WEBSITE HOW MUCH
YOU APPRECIATE WHAT THEY BRING YOU.

"BUT STERLING, I DON'T HAVE ANY MONEY TO SPARE, I'M A POOR SERVANT OF
GOD MYSELF."
Oh, okay, I'm not talking to those of you who, like me, long ago gave up
their livelihood, burning the bridges of their lifetime careers, and gave
themselves completely to the service of the Lord. In my case it was after six
years of college education. Those types are off the hook. I'm only talking to
those who are well-to-do.
"BUT STERLING, NONE OF THEM HAVE ANY INTEREST IN YOUR WRITINGS, WITH
PERHAPS A TINY FEW EXCEPTIONS!"
Yeah, I guess you're right. It would only take one generous offering from
someone like that to keep this work going, and they seem to have other plans
for investing their money. My work speaks of the downfall of the Babylonian
system, and that doesn't bode well for those who are invested in the world's
money system. They would rather invest their money with someone savvy who can
promise a good monetary return.
So I guess I'm speaking to those who resonate with that understanding and
are trying to divest themselves of all Babylonian ties. And a corollary to
that is that they generally don't have money to spare, for they have already
given it away to worthy causes -- the widows, orphans, sick, homeless,
captives, imprisoned, downtrodden, etc.. That's great. I am genuinely glad to
be part of such a group of people who have their priorities straight.
<have you heard enough yet?>
"SO STERLING, WHY DON'T YOU GET A 'JOB' LIKE THE REST OF US AND DO
THIS MINISTRY WORK ON THE SIDE."
Actually I have been working a couple of jobs full-time now for a couple of
months. As a result, my work with Greater Things and Patriot Saints has been
coasting compared to what I can do with it by spending a lot more time with
it. I deeply feel the need (mission/drive) to cut way back if not completely
on the second job so I can focus my attention where I am supposed to.
The primary "job" I mentioned above is as Production Editor for
my Dad's website, www.allanstime.com ,
which I believe to be part of my "mission" in life, so I don't feel
a need to cut back on it. But it falls quite short from being sufficient to
pay all the bills for our modest living.
<have you heard enough yet?>
"BUT STERLING, WE HAVE OUR OWN MINISTRIES TO DEVOTE ANY SPARE
RESOURCES."
I realize that most of you, my friends who for the most part appreciate the
work I do, have ministries of your own, labors of love that you desire to
pursue, and it seems unfair to you that I should be able to spend so much time
doing the ministry work when you wish you could be doing the same yourself. In
other words, if you had some cash to spare, rather than send it my way you
would cut down on the amount of time you work so you could spend more time on
your ministry. Either that or you would give it to the poor, homeless, etc.
who can't work or whose work is not sufficient to supply their most basic
needs.
Nevertheless, you recognize the need to not just give them a fish but to
teach them how to fish. In other words, you realize that there are some
long-term changes that need to take place to overcome the situations of
poverty that exist in the world. Together we are laboring to bring about a
better world in which there will be no poor among us, but all will bask in the
blessings of prosperity based on freedom, not the forced philanthropy that
those who promote the New World Order propose.
Again, I must say it is an honor for me to be associated with people whose
heart is to do the work of the Lord every spare minute they can.
God bless you. Keep up the good work.
...and send me some cash!
<have you heard enough yet?>
"BUT STERLING, THOUGH WE LIKE SOME OF THE STUFF YOU DO, THERE ARE SOME
THINGS THAT YOU PRODUCE WE JUST WOULDN'T FEEL GOOD SUPPORTING."
Well, I suppose if you scrutinized any one or any organization close enough
you would find the same thing everywhere you looked. What about the money you
pay for taxes, some of which ended up in abortionists hands, or in the hands
of the likes of Janet Reno (if you pay taxes). What about some of the
"art" that is supported with the money collected from taxes? Need I
say more?
What about your favorite church? Even there, I bet there are things about
their doctrine or policies or leadership practices with which you would find
exception. And yet you still give your tithe to its support.
<have you heard enough yet?>
"YES, BUT PAYING OUR TAXES TO OUR GOVERNMENT OR OUR TITHES TO OUR
CHURCHES IS PART OF OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS."
That is true, at least to the extent that you feel confident that they have
the blessing of God upon them, despite their weaknesses.
But it is a new heaven and a new earth for which we at Greater Things and
Patriot Saints are laboring. It is a new horizon of harmony between church and
state, the kingdom of God on earth. It is a restitution of all things. It is
yours and my future -- those who will make it through the purgings ahead, when
old things will pass away and all things will become new.
And since you bring up the idea of a tax or a tithe, I would like to
propose to each and every one of you that you look deep in your heart and
consider the possibility of setting aside a certain percentage of your
increase for the work of establishing the kingdom of God on earth (even though
most of you consider everything you do to be along these lines). I'm not
saying that this is the only place that qualifies as truly building up that
kingdom, for I believe as you do that there are many many individuals and
organizations devoted to this cause.
The reason I would ask that you consider allocating a certain percentage of
your tithe devoted to the kingdom of God on earth to this work of Greater
Things and Patriot Saints is that you are benefiting at least in part from the
work we are doing here, and we are part of that great and marvelous work.
<have you heard enough yet?>
"JUST WHAT IT IS YOU ARE DOING TOWARD BUILDING THE KINGDOM?"
Like you, ideally speaking, I would hope that every breath I take is spent
in helping to build the kingdom of God on earth. In general, for the most part
in my case it means doing the work of www.greaterthings.com
web site, which requires a great deal of time and some money to keep
operational and vibrant. Also, recently my work has expanded to include
developing what will be www.patriotsaints.com
-- which is designed to help gather people who realize the two-fold
manifestation of the kingdom of God: gospel and government, facilitating local
meetings of like-minded patriots and saints in preparation for the
tribulations to come. It is an information, action, fellowship, preparation,
but most of all implementation oriented movement.
<have you heard enough yet?>
"WHAT IS THIS PATRIOT SAINTS THING ABOUT THAT YOU KEEP
MENTIONING?"
Yes, that is new. It is a spin of off what I have been mentioning regarding
the American Study Group. You and I know that the "kingdom of God"
is not just the gospel as the Mormons/Christians often think, nor is it just a
society or government on earth as the Jews commonly think. It is both. It is
the proper harmony between church and state which allows the changed man/woman
to prosper in an environment of freedom and bring to pass the full expression
of their unique talents for the edification of the body of Christ. The web
site that will be uploaded very soon will facilitate the gathering of
likeminded people in local areas so they can have the fellowship that comes
from personal interaction with fellow travelers in the cause. It is designed
to help facilitate the unification of those people and causes devoted to
promoting the gospel and government of God.
This in itself could occupy the full-time efforts of many people. There is
so much that can be done and should be done along these lines. This is a niche
in the work of God that needs to be filled, and we want to help fill it. So
your donation to this cause could be compared to, say, a donation to the John
Birch Society or Right to Life or the Eagle Forum or Focus on the Family.
Through the support of a few people we hope to be able to bless the lives of
millions.
Back ten years ago when I founded the American Study Group, it took all my
time and energy -- full time -- to administer the various facets of that
group. Still to this day I receive warm complements from people about how
grateful they were for what that group did for them. That was possible thanks
to the donations of one couple in particular (my wonderful parents) as well as
many others who helped along the way to cover the expenses.
<have you heard enough yet?>
"SOME OF US ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH ALL THAT GOES ON WITH GREATER
THINGS. WHAT'S THAT ABOUT?"
First of all, Greater Things and Patriot Saints are closely related
projects. While Patriot Saints is devoted more to implementation and actual
gathering of like minded people, Greater Things is devoted to the information
end.
Besides what I mentioned above, some of the active work at the
greaterthings.com website includes maintaining the following indexes.

All in all, the work of greaterthings.com is a labor of love for which I
have no lack of motivation and in which I find a great deal of joy -- but not
any money, for it is not something for which money should be charged. But it
does take a great deal of time, so your donations are greatly appreciated in
helping make it possible.
<have you heard enough yet?>
"SO WHERE WAS IT AGAIN THAT WE SEND A CHECK? AND TO WHOM DO WE MAKE IT
OUT?"
Make it out either to Greater Things or to Patriot Saints, or both,
depending on which you want to support.
The address for both is
165 W. 400 N. 3-1
Manti, UT 84642
< sterlingda@greaterthings.com
>
And if you wish to call for any questions you can reach us at 435-835-1625.
Thanks for your time, and for your support.
I realize that there are many of you who would love to lend a hand
financially, but who are yourselves in financial straits. If ever we get more
than we need, be assured that we will pass it on to other worthy causes or
people in need.

"DIDN'T YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT A MUSIC CD?"
Oh, yes, for those who offer a donation of, say, $50 or more, we would like
to offer as a token of our appreciation a CD that I pulled together for my
family back in '97. It isn't professional finish, but those I've given it to
seem to enjoy listening to it.
For donations of $200 or more, while supplies last I will send a complete
set of twelve Greater Things magazine publications from when we first send
them out in 1992. (typeset chiasms and
parallels)
For donations of $15.00 or more, I will send a typeset copy of the address
"The
Law and the Word of the Lord: Our Duty and Our Quest," along with the
chiasms and parallels that span the talk. It was the last of the 1992
series of Greater Things magazine.
That's the one that someone you know tried to get up and give in General
Conference.
<have you heard enough yet?>
Well, that's all folks. Time to get back to the show.
Sincerely,
Sterling D. Allan
