Class 1: Types of Telepathy

by Susan Carter
June 1, 2004

Several people asked me why I wanted to have this workshop. I didn’t really. It is kind of scary to put it out in the public eye that I am involved with Telepathy or am interested in it. How it came about was that I was reading in some books by A. A. Bailey (Djwhaul Khul) and in it he mentions that before Christ reappears that a group of women telepaths will be bringing in messages about The Plan from The Masters during the three festivals at the time of the full moons in April, May and June.

Christ is over the one in April having to do with love, Buddha is over the one in May having to do with knowledge and wisdom, and Christ is again in charge of the one in June which has to do with a blending of the two energies into love-wisdom and translates it into a part of The Plan we are to accomplish for the coming year. I also read that these women would be inspired to all move to the same place. It sounded like there will be several of these groups of women telepaths or telepathic communicators all over the world.

It just came to me that this area or Sanpete County would be one of those areas. I know many women who have telepathic inclinations and I just thought it would be great fun to all get together and learn more about telepathy, energies, and to start combining our strengths. Together we exponentially empower one another.

I went through some tough times thinking about what would people say and so forth. Finally I heard this voice say to me, “Susan, it isn’t about you.” I was embarrassed, but relieved. Either my sense that this was the time and this was the place to start developing telepathic abilities more was real or it wasn’t. If it was, I was just the messenger or gatherer, but it was about the group, not about me.

I can almost guarantee that the minute we start discussing Telepathy or things not generally accepted someone will bring up the potential for evil or possession or something bad happening. We are going to learn how to develop our telepathic skills naturally so we do not open ourselves to negative energies.

Who are you? What are you? Are you just your body? Your mind? Your personality? It seems that we are more than our bodies, more than our brains and more than our personalities.

But let’s talk about our bodies for a minute. How many of you can see auras? How many of you know someone who can see auras? How do they describe them?

Have any of you heard of an etheric body? I will pass out a blank sheet of paper. Now take your thumbs and hold them just touching and then slowly pull them apart about a half of an inch. Make your eyes go kind of cross-eyed or very relaxed. Try it several times and you will likely see a kind of blue or white outline surrounding your thumbs. That is your etheric body.

Were any of you able to see it? This etheric body is going to be our topic today. It is really very fascinating and is considered to be part of our physical body and is the very beginning of our auras.

When we are fairly advanced our etheric body becomes egg shaped around us, but until then it is quite close to our physical body in shape. I believe it is the Veil that people speak of that separates us from those in the Spirit World.

The Indians refer to it as a web. The Indians speak of a web that connects all of us. It is like a spider has woven something all around us and goes to the next person so there is this strand between all of us, connecting us all. The more unevolved we are the thicker the web is. As we evolve into higher beings the web thins. Imagine that this web glows a golden color.

It is a protection around us, protecting us from energies that we are not ready to handle. “If a man's bodies are not sufficiently purified and their atomic vibration is not sufficiently high, he is in danger of over-stimulation when brought in contact with the forces of nature, and this inevitably entails the destruction and disintegration of one or other of his bodies. At times it may entail the destruction of two or more, and when this is the case, it involves a definite setback to [the soul].” Cosmic Fire by Alice Bailey

In eastern philosophy the chakras are located in the energy body or the etheric body. The chakras are said to be closed or open. They are energy locations or sometimes called wheels of fire. They rotate clockwise or counterclockwise and spin differently for men than women.

The seven chakras are located in the etheric body, but are close to certain parts of the physical body. The base chakra is located near the base of the spine. The second chakra is located near the navel. The Solar Plexus chakra is located by the diaphragm. The heart chakra is obvious as is the throat chakra. Then there is the third eye chakra between the eyebrows and the crown chakra where the soft spot of your skull used to be as a baby.

Now the chakras are part of the eastern philosophies, but there are correspondences in the glandular system. Western medicine is very aware of the importance of our glands and their functions. Doctors tell us that if our glands and hormones are out of balance we are more likely to get sick. The eastern doctors tell us if our chakras are out of balance the prana or life force is circulating wrong and it will affect us physically. If our chakras and etheric body and also our glandular system were in perfect balance we would never get sick.

Starting with the crown chakra we have a gland associated with that chakra—the pineal gland. The third eye chakra is paired with the pituitary gland. The throat chakra is aligned with the thyroid gland and the heart chakra is with the thymus gland. The Solar Plexus chakra lines up with the pancreas with the navel or sexual chakra is associated with the gonads. Last, but not least, the base chakra pairs up with our adrenal glands.

Djwhul Khul tells us that if we try to open the chakras prematurely we could burn one of our bodies. It is important to get a feel for the different bodies because when we communicate telepathically we do it through one of our bodies. The body most people think of is our physical body. As was discussed before the etheric body is really part of our physical body, they are one. Then we have our emotional body and then our mental body. Can you imagine what chakras are associated with those bodies?

The astral or emotional body is associated with the solar plexus, the seat of our power, our ego. The mental body charka may trick you, because it is not in the head. The important thing to remember is that each body needs to be purified and have its vibration raised in order to make it easier and safer to contact the telepathic currents.

There are three different types of telepathy. We are going to discuss two of them today. The three types are Instinctual, Mental and Intuitive Telepathy. We are going to study the first two.

First, we have instinctual telepathy. It is received and sent through the solar plexus. It is closely tied to the astral/emotional body. That is what has given rise to sayings like, “I have a feeling…I have a gut feeling, My instincts tell me, and so forth.” It is the mechanism a mother might use to know something is wrong with her child and act on it.

Whatever emotional level we are at is the level of stuff we will pick up on. This is the place of greatest danger for dark entities to start influencing you. If you are basically selfish you will start receiving stuff that looks and sounds spiritual, but is actually quite self serving.

A person full of fears will pick up on many fearful possibilities through instinctual telepathy and be wrong more than right. Depending upon the instinctual telepathy in that case would not be very accurate. The trick is that occasionally it is so right-on people are afraid not to listen every time so it creates a lot of emotional upheaval and disturbance.

The best way to protect yourself from this sort of stuff is to heal your emotions, be aware of your motives, and able to reject “revelation” or insight that is of a low level.

When you play a note on an instrument every note has a low tone and a high tone. The perfect pitch is the one in the middle of these two tones. In telepathy we are looking for the perfect pitch also. If we listen to the low level stuff on that bandwidth, it’s not going to be truly helpful and might be harmful. On the other hand, the best way to learn is to go with it. By your fruits you will learn if you are receiving from a low entity or a higher one. It is like learning to walk, sometimes you fall, but you dust yourself off and go forward.

I believe this is the major reason religions discourage people from a spiritual path as this stage of listening to astral voices and picking up on negative entities can lead you on some pretty strange paths.

I think Utah has been especially privy to much of this in the newspapers. The Lafferty Brothers who “heard a voice” commanding them to kill their sister in law and baby is just one bizarre example. If you are not at a level where you are capable of such acts, you will not receive word to do such. You may just receive a voice telling you to warn your neighbor about a coming economic crash. You may not even be close to that neighbor and it serves to isolate you from them, but makes you feel superior because they won’t listen to you. “By their fruits ye shall know them.”

Pay attention to your true motives. Get really honest with yourself. If you say something followed by “but” listen to everything after the but. That is your truth, not anything you said before the but. “I would love to help you, but I am way too involved with my kids.” You probably wouldn’t love to help, you are looking for a reason that is acceptable to the person you are talking to not to help. That is the sort of thing we need to be conscious of. We must learn to speak the truth. Sometimes it would be hard to speak the truth without hurting someone. We also need to learn when to be quiet.

How many of you have ever read the book, “Life in the World Unseen”? It is a great book re-published by Mike Rigby about the Spirit World. There are some beautiful books describing experiences in the Spirit World. A few of them speak about what this book does that the Spirit World is not the highest heaven. The speaker here says that as he walks towards the edge of his Spirit World things start to fade and he can no longer see what is there. One time he is taken by Christ and his eyes are anointed to see and he sees what is beyond his level.

The world he is in manifests desires almost instantaneously. It is beautiful and peaceful and people are very busy doing all sorts of things like learning to paint or play the piano or any number of activities they may have missed from their earth life. Joseph Smith said that if we were to gaze into the Telestial World some would want to kill themselves to get there it is so wonderful.

I believe that the Spirit World is the Astral World and was what Joseph Smith was speaking of. It is a beautiful place full of love, but it is a lower order heaven. In this book, it tells that some evolved souls only stay at this level ten or so days visiting friends and family and then they move on to higher Worlds.

Part of the Spirit World is a lower place often referred to as Spirit Prison. It is gray and dark and very unpleasant. The way to leave is to accept the love of Christ and move on. It is also part of the Astral/desire world.

So if we are connecting through our solar plexus, we are connecting to the Astral World of emotions and desire. There are some wonderful people there that could teach us many things and there are some lower level vibration spirits who are full of negativity and would frighten us. But it is not a very high level place in the grand scheme of things.

It is not a bad thing to connect to the Astral/Emotional world, just know what you are connecting to. They have some insights that would be valuable, but we may be just as wise as they are. Others are more advanced and could teach us quite a bit. It depends upon our level of growth here that determines if that is a place we would want to tap into.

Interestingly enough, I believe the astral world is becoming more and more a part of our world every day. It seems the veil is thinning rapidly between the two. Perhaps we as a very low level Telestial world are evolving to where it is safer for us to be a part of that higher level Telestial world.

Psychics like Sylvia Brown, John Edwards and so forth are becoming more common and well known. It is starting to become well accepted there is an afterlife after this one. Children like Denise Mendenhall who come back from a coma with no veil is the forerunner for how it will be for most of us in the near future.

We can also use this instinctual telepathy to send a warning to our child who we sense is in danger. A mother’s love is a powerful thing. We can use this to tune into our children or other loved ones who are away from us to get a general sense of their well being. We don’t need to resort to the old Indian mother dance, Worry worry worry, Worry worry worry…

If we want to receive the truth and not the “worst possible scenario” we need to be as devoid of emotion as possible and feel love as the primary emotion. Then we will get the most likely scenario and be able to work from that rather than the worst possible.

A friend, Harry, is a truck driver and it isn’t unusual for him to be gone as long as ten days at a time. He and his wife Jodi rarely telephone one another during his absences. Jodi used instinctual telepathy to tune into her husband. She can see and feel what is going on, where he is and so forth.

Instinctual telepathy has its uses and its place, but there are other modes of telepathy.

Mental Telepathy is gaining more strength, but is not as common as instinctual telepathy. As it names states it deals with the next body, the mental one. With Instinctual telepathy we use the solar plexus chakra. Any guesses what chakra is used with Mental Telepathy?

Interestingly enough it is the throat chakra, the center of creativity or that which creates. There is a scripture that will make it obvious. “In the beginning was the Word…and the Word is God and by the [Word] are all things made.” (John 1:1-3) In Eastern religions power words or mantras are very recognized, but even in the LDS religion certain power words or adamic words are recognized as having power.

Thomas Edison once made the comment that “ideas are in the air” and one just has to pluck them out. The phenomenon of several movies coming out almost simultaneously with the same idea has been spoken of by even the media. The ideas are out there and creative sorts just seem to pick up on them.

In the world of inventions often it is difficult to decipher just who was first with the idea of radio or television for instance. I had a Bishop tell me once that his belief was that the Lord inspired at least three people for any idea he wanted promulgated in the hopes that at least one would follow through on it.

I can tell you in the early seventies I had a strong impression to write a fictional novel geared to LDS women. There was no such thing on the market at the time and I felt like it was needed. I didn’t do it and watched as author after author started writing for the LDS market. Have any of you done something similar—either ignoring or following through on an idea?

When I was studying Cognitive Psychology at BYU (the study of the mind and how it works) we studied the scientists and their AHA moment. It is well known that the bathtub is a good place to experience an AHA moment. Some of the greatest discoveries in science were thought of in the bathtub, gazing out at a lake or in other seemingly non-scientific settings.

It is not uncommon to hear writers or inventors or other creative people give the credit to God for their creation. They know they had help. The truly creative are able to tune into something most people don’t. We often call them geniuses. But even Einstein seemed to be of only average intelligence growing up, not even that, he seemed a bit slow.

But those we consider geniuses have an ability most don’t use. They can sit and contemplate and hold a question in their mind until they “get it.” My own husband has quite an ability to do this. He contemplates deeply on say a physics question until he understands it. He says it is given to him in a flash. He calls it “being downloaded.” He says that it can take up to a week to flesh out what has been given him and be able to communicate it to someone else.

David Allen, Sterling’s dad is a well known physicist in the field of time. He is currently working on the Unified Field Theory, the theory Einstein tried to solve the last 35 years of his life. When Ren and David talk physics David has openly expressed surprise that Ren understands some of the more complicated physic theories known today. He keeps saying there is no way Ren can understand this stuff, but he does. Ren was not exceptional in school and got an associates degree in Medical Lab work. He has never formally studied physics. But he can contemplate and he does receive downloads.

It is a form of telepathy, Mental Telepathy, and in religious circles it would be called revelation. It is obvious to me there are those higher beings on the other side who are sending down knowledge as we ready ourselves for it. They are sending the information down quite well, I would imagine. But how is it received?

The ideal receptive area would be our own throat chakra, but the solar plexus chakra is the line of least resistance at this point in our evolution and the one easiest for us to use. So often we receive a good idea and immediately translate it into how powerful, rich etc we are going to become. It was given to us for the good of mankind and we use it for the good of ourselves and thus distort the original purpose.

Some scientists are quite able minded enough to receive ideas through their throat chakra and receive wonderful stuff. They have fun in their labs creating and inventing and get so lost in the process they never do anything with the invention. That is not the intention of those sending the information I am sure—just for the scientists or inventors pleasure.

The ideal way to receive a Mental Telepathic message would be to combine the energies of our throat and heart. The heart chakra is sometimes called the Christ Chakra or the Chakra of Love. It is what stimulates us to service to our fellow man and stimulates our desire say for the Kingdom of God or for a community of some sort. It is the energy that groups use (for good or evil by the way). Remember that the rain falls on the just and the unjust.

By combining the heart and throat chakras, the Purposes of God will be fulfilled. Knowledge will be used for mankind. Jonas Salk, the inventor of the polio vaccine, wrote a book with his son that had an interesting postulate. He said that we are moving from the age of competition to the age of cooperation. He proved it scientifically through a bunch of charts and so forth.

The heart chakra is being awakened in mankind and no longer do we only think of ourselves and our little families, but we are seeing how interconnected we all are. The internet is a physical demonstration of that.

Whenever energies are stepped up they manifest in a physical way for us. The telegraph represents instinctual telepathy, but the internet shows us how, together, we can be so much more than any of us can be individually.

That is one of the major reasons to have a workshop like this. The energy we can generate together will be of greater strength than anything any of us could do alone.
