1921 Priesthood Conferral Change

In 1886 President John Taylor said:

"I would be surprised if ten percent of those who claim to hold the Melchizedek Priesthood will remain true faithful to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ at the time of the seventh President and that there would be thousand that think they hold the Priesthood at that time, but not have it properly conferred upon."

(Truth 6:136)

Heber J. Grant said: (7th President)

"I know nothing concerning the Gospel; I am a financial man; when I want information I go to President Penrose, James E. Talmage or Joseph Fielding Smith." (Truth 8:325)

On April 26, 1921 Heber J. Grant the 7th President change the Ordinations of the Priesthood, said Charles W. Penrose: "We have been making a mistake in ordinations. We have been conferring the priesthood, and it ought not to be done. If we confer the Priesthood on a man, we give him all the offices and callings in the Church. We should ordain directly to the office in the Priesthood."

36 Years later on April, 1957 David O. McKay,

      Changes the manner of Priesthood ordinations back to the original way, wherein the Priesthood was conferred upon the individual before he was        ordained to an office in the Priesthood.

      So what about all the Ordinations like Baptism, Temple work,  etc.

      Said Brigham Young:

    "No being can give that which he does not possess: consequently, no man      can confer the Priesthood on another, if he has not himself first received it."
