SECTION 65
Revelation given through Joseph Smith the prophet, at Hiram, Ohio, October 1831. HC
1:218. The Prophet designates this revelation as a prayer |
| 1-2, Keys of the kingdom of God are committed to man on
earth, and the gospel cause shall triumph; 3-6, The millennial kingdom of heaven shall
come and join the kingdom of God on earth. HEARKEN, and lo, a voice
as of one sent down from on high, who is mighty and powerful, whose going forth is unto
the ends of the earth, yea, whose voice is unto men--Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make
his paths straight.
2 The keys of the kingdom of God are committed unto man on the earth, and from
thence shall the gospel roll forth unto the ends of the earth, as
the stone which is cut out of the mountain without hands shall roll forth,
until is has filled the whole earth.
3 Yea, a voice crying--Prepare |
ye the way of the Lord, prepare ye the supper of the Lamb, make ready for the Bridegroom.
4 Pray unto the Lord, call upon his holy name, make known his wonderful works among
the people.
5 Call upon the Lord, that this kingdom may go forth
upon the earth, that the inhabitants thereof may receive it, and be prepared for the days
to come, in the which the Son of Man shall come down in
heaven, clothed in the brightness of his glory, to meet the kingdom of God which is set up on the earth.
6 Wherefore, may the kingdom of God go forth, that the kingdom of heaven may
come, that thou, O God, mayest be glorified in heaven so on earth, that thine enemies may be subdued; for thine is
the honor, power and glory, forever and ever. Amen. |

Observations and Comments
 | Notice that the last verse on the page is "6" followed by the heading for
section "66." Hence 6,66.
|
 | Compare this phrase from section 65:5 "the Son of Man
shall come down in heaven" with definition 2015 of the New Testament
Lexicon (Zodhiates)
"An appearing, appearance; spoken of the first advent of the Lord Jesus; used only by
Paul for the second and future appearance of the Lord."
Zodhiates lists one antonym for this word: "Ant.: apousia
(666), absence."
|
 | Section 66 comes at the center of the D&C if you count section 1, the
"Preface," as the beginning, and section 133, the "Appendix," as the
end. Section 66 was given a week prior to section 1. Section 133 came two days
after that. See Alphabetics word-number study: 66 and
the Word.
|
 | Section 65, which takes up the bulk of the page, is a direct exposition of Daniel's
vision of the stone cut out of the mountain without hands. This prophecy is not to
be separated from Daniel's prophecy of the beast (same beast spoken of by John in
Revelations 13) which treads down all the earth and makes war with the saints, prevailing
against them, prior to the saints overcoming and the kingdom being given to them with
Christ as their head. In other words, the sequence is that before the saints are
triumphant in seeing the fulfillment of D&C 65, the beast first makes war with them
and prevails for a time (one year), times (two years) and the dividing of time (half a
year), or forty two months according to John. This is because they have not built
their foundation on Jesus Christ as they ought to have done. Hence the beast, 666,
prevails first.
|
 | Ironically, it is probably this section of the D&C, more than any other, that is the
cause of so much blindness on the part of the Mormons, as they gloat in thinking that the
church established by Joseph Smith will roll forward triumphant without a hitch until it
fills the whole earth. Hence they are off their guard against the enemies of God and
his work, and end up being deceived and overcome for this time before being delivered.
|
 | I can't think of a more perfectly paradoxical page to fall on 666 than this one.
It fits perfectly the discoveries I have made elsewhere about the Saints actually playing
into the work of Satan and being a part of his work because they fail to be vigilant as
the scriptures admonish them to be. Yet out of that body will emerge a remnant who
will awake and put on strength and redeem Zion.
