Israel and Equal : A Grand
Paradox
Alphabetics makes an amazing point about "Israel" and equality.
These two words are immediately next to one another in the Greek language when listed
alphabetically (according to James Strong's numbering of the words of the NT Greek [Zodhiates]).
2470 Equal
2471 likeness, equality
2472 Equally precious or valuable
2473 like-minded
2474 ISRAEL
Historically, in practice, the idea of "Israel" has been used to set one
people above another. The irony is that God did not intend for Israel to be a light
on the hill so that all could bow down and pay homage to them. That light was meant
to be inviting, not separating.
"Would to God that all were prophets" is the call.
Israel is meant to stand for those who place their trust in God, which in the
millennium will include every last person on the planet. All will be
"Israel." Equal.
Any elitism defies the principle of "he that is the greatest shall be servant of
all."
Thus this talk about whether or not one is literal blood of Christ has burdened my
soul, as it looks so much like elitism. That is not what Firstborn is meant to
instill.
What an irony of a name -- that the most exalted station, which requires
such immense humility and charity, would be given such a presumptuous name : church of the
Firstborn. I can't help but think that it is designed to be a final sifter of
souls. Those who seek to be the greatest for the sake of being the greatest will not
make it (at least not this time around).
