(See Comparison of English, Greek and Hebrew Alphabets & Numerical Equivalents of Hebrew and Greek Letters) Using this method, the English spelling of OLYMPICS has the following number assignment, using the equivalent Greek letter numeric values: O-70 L-30 Y-700 M-40 P-80 I--10 C-60 S-300 The sum of the number values is 1290. 1290 is the number of days given in Daniel 12:11, "a thousand two hundred and ninety days" that will ensue at "a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation" (12:1) "when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people" (12:7). Verse ten shows that "holy" should be put in strong "quote, unquote" emphasis, meaning that they consider themselves holy, but in reality they are as salt that has lost its savor. There is a remnant for whom these events will have a sanctifying power. They will understand, and will increase in faith, while the wicked will curse God and wish to die. "Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand." (Dan. 12:10.) The last verse of the chapter and of the book of Daniel reads: "...Thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days." (12:13.) The first shall be last, and the last shall be first. ALPHABETICS CONSIDERATIONS Word 1290 in the New Testament Lexicon (Zodhiates) is DIASPORA "A scattering or dispersion." It comes on page 440. Word 440 in the Old Testament lexicon is the Hebrew word ALLON which means "oak: strong, mighty" On page 1290 of Zodhiates is word 4615 SINAPI "Mustard, a plant often growing to a very considerable size in the fertile soil of Palestine. ...A grain of mustard seed ... is a proverbial phrase meaning the least, the smallest particle." What comes to mind is the idea that the mighty are brought down, and the low are raised up. "By the weak things of the earth will I thrash the nations by the power of my Spirit." Word 1290 in the Old Testament lexicon (Gesenius) BEREK means "a knee." I think of two things. (1) Eventually every knee shall bow (willingly), and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Christ. (2) Through the tribulations, the mighty people are going to be brought to their knees, from which humbled position they will be merit a mighty transformation and endowment of power.
