The Patriarchal Church of Christ

3353 S. Main, Box 233 SLC, UT 84115

Disclaimer:  My intent in presenting this word study is not meant to be a statement of full endorsement of this particular group, but rather to illustrate the idea of the likeminded servants of Christ "meeting together oft," for fellowship, for worship, for prayer, for instruction, ect....  "Then they that feard the Lord spake often one to another."  (Malachi 3:16; 3 Ne. 24:16.)

scrolb14.gif (1380 bytes)  Introduction

On February 15, 1998, Sunday evening, I attended a fireside on (and including) the gift of tongues at a home in Salt Lake City. There were many people there I knew from previous assemblies of like-minded individuals. After the Spirit-filled meeting, the people mingled for at least an hour. As I was handing out some of my material, a friend who calls himself Jeremiah handed me a flier in return.

Today I pulled out that one-page flier and read it through. Out of curiosity, I thought I would look up the number of the address in my Hebrew and Greek Lexicons. I wasn't really expecting to find anything, for I admit I was a bit skeptical about this group of which was spoken - - though not shutting out possibilities. What I found was a close match of words and ideas that are on the flier with words and ideas in the definitions of word 3353, 233 and the words in their vicinity.

The following is the text (and general look) of the flier, followed by quotations from the Lexicons, with my editorial comments in [brackets].

scrolb14.gif (1380 bytes)   Page 972+ In Zodhiates' Greek

Earlier today, in fact immediately before I pulled out this flier and began the present study, for the first time (except Drosnin), I wrote and sent four letters to: Spiros Zodhiates (New Testament Greek dictionary), Michael Drosnin (Bible Code); Baker Books (Gesenius' Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon of Old Testament), and Del Washburn (Theomatics). I wanted to thank them for their work and tell them briefly that it has blessed my life, and inform them of the new Greater Things web page where they can find some of the work I have done stemming from their work. If Noah Webster were alive today, you can be sure I would have sent him one too.

So after walking back in from putting these in the mail box, I picked up this flier. Correlating to the very timing of my finding this discovery, it turns out that word 3353 in Zodhiates' Greek lexicon, which ends up being so significant (as shown above), is on page 974, and the definitions I began citing being on the previous page . . . which is the page immediately after page 972, where I had written the following note in the margin by the page number: "[there are] 972 pages in Webster's (1971) dictionary." In other words, I take this to mean or infer that just after (with the idea of building upon or taking the next step) the work of Webster and all these other compilers and scholars, comes the emergence of the new birthing of Zion, the man child. Somehow, the fact that the word Zodhiates comes so close to the end of the English alphabet seems to be appropriate here too.

Adding another witness to these connections, there on page 973 in Zodhiates, the first page after 972, which is the page number where my Webster's ends, is the word:

metepeita: "After that, then, thereafter, afterwards."

And as yet a third, nearly verbatim witness, the definition cited above for Hebrew word 332 is:

"then, at that time, thereupon."

...At that day - - this day. We live in that time when these things foretold are now unfolding before our eyes.

scrolb14.gif (1380 bytes)   Some Closing Thoughts

The literal gathering together of the elect is a key, focal, crucial element of putting on strength and coming out of the midst of the wicked. The humble followers of Christ need to associate one with another and draw upon the strength that comes from such fellowship in a unified trust in the Lord. They need to stop worrying about what this or that person is going to think if they stop attending the previous congregations as before to attend gatherings that are not smiled upon by the dominating religion. They need to lift up their hearts in praise to God, and let their bonds (the word before 233 in Hebrew) fall off their necks, which are the curses of God that they have worn in their scattered condition among the Gentiles. Awake, put on strength; arise from the dust.

Whether this "Patriarchal Church of Christ" specifically represents the long-sought new wine, or if it is just another of the many works of God, the principle holds fast of the need for the flock of God to gather out from among the wicked and among those of like mind as exemplified by this group.

All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
Second, it is violently opposed; and
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.
