A couple of weeks ago, while reading Elane Durham's death-and-back
experience, I read the following statement to my wife, Cheri, saying that this
typified her as she is such a wonderful mother.
Elane says,
"I was shown how [women] were given the sacred gift of
nurturing. It is no accident that women are more inclined to nurture
others than are men, for this was part of our premortal heritage. I
was shown how vital a woman's role is, to the exaltation of our heavenly
family. It is absolutely essential, and I sensed that nothing in a
woman's life can be more important." (I Stand All Amazed;
p. 41.)
About a week later, on April 4, 2000 Lynn Ridenhour, sharing a few
impressions he received while in prayer, said of Cheri, "Your lovely wife
has a tremendous nurturing ability."
Then today, I turned to Thayer's New Testament
lexicon to refresh my memory of what word number 1625 means, 1625 being the
last four digits of our phone number. Here is what it says:
1625 ,6-JD,NT ektrepho 1. To nourish up to
maturity; 2. To nurture, bring up.
We selected those digits for our telephone number because 16 is Cheri's
favorite number and 25 is mine. So it is kind of fun that I discovered
this correlation on April 16. I probably shouldn't mention that the
odometer on our car hit 77777 today or you will think me very strange.
In his New Testament lexicon, Zodhiates includes
the following definition, "To nourish or cherish...." The name
"Cheri" derives from "cherish."
